Pocket Reaches $100 Million Run Rate on AI Hardware and Opens 15 Roles

By Zero G Talent•

Eight months after launching its hardware voice recorder, Pocket reached an annualized revenue run rate of $100 million, according to Business Insider. The startup, which operates corporate entity Open Vision Engineering, Inc., has shipped more than 200,000 units of its credit card-sized device and reports growing at roughly 50% month-over-month.

Pocket produces a dedicated hardware recorder that attaches to the back of a smartphone to capture, transcribe, and summarize in-person meetings. Priced at $199 with introductory configurations from $129, the device uses a physical button to start recording rather than an always-listening ambient microphone, reported Entrepreneur. Basic transcription is free, while advanced AI features and cloud storage require a Pocket Pro subscription costing $16.50 to $20 a month.

The company is positioning itself around contextual capture for offline environments, targeting doctors, salespeople, and field professionals who conduct face-to-face conversations. In an interview with CIOL, leadership stated that long-term defensibility requires integrating conversational context into structured tasks, follow-up emails, and enterprise systems, rather than relying on speech transcription alone. Enterprise customers include DoorDash, and the platform maintains HIPAA and SOC 2 compliance with end-to-end encryption.

Founder Background and Capital

The hardware startup was created by Akshay Narisetti and Gabriel Dymowski, who first partnered at The Residency hacker house in San Francisco. Narisetti, who serves as CEO, previously worked as a software engineer at BharatX and Questbook, contributed to open-source software, and helped build the open-source AI wearable project Omi, according to Business Outreach Magazine. He completed a computer science degree at SRM University before starting a master's program at the Georgia Institute of Technology, which he left to build the company.

Dymowski previously served as CEO and co-founder of DoxyChain, an enterprise blockchain document infrastructure provider. The platform's direct corporate lineage also lists Nate Weiner, who created the original Read It Later bookmarking service in 2007 before its acquisition by Mozilla.

Pocket participated in Y Combinator’s Winter 2026 cohort. In mid-2026, the company raised an $11 million funding round led by Accel, alongside Y Combinator, Vercel CEO Guillermo Rauch, ElevenLabs co-founder Mati Staniszewski, and Opendoor CEO Kaz Nejatian, reported ANI News. Pocket plans to use the capital to support international market expansion, including engineering and operational footprints in India, while developing new hardware form factors.

Commercial Scaling and Open Positions

Pocket reports that 85% of its sales come from the United States, with direct-to-consumer purchases driving the majority of volume and Amazon accounting for less than 10%. To support its hardware pipeline, B2B sales, and subscription revenue, the company has opened 15 roles.

Technical hiring concentrates on voice models, software integrations, and hardware interfaces. Openings include Research Engineer - Voice Intelligence and Engineering Generalist - Product Impact (Full Stack), both offering salaries between $200,000 and $300,000 per year. Physical interface design is managed through searches for a Product Designer at $190,000 to $230,000.

The company is also formalizing its business and subscription operations. Pocket is hiring a Head of Subscriptions & Monetization paying $220,000 to $260,000, alongside commercial positions such as Founding Growth Marketer, B2B and a Senior Amazon Marketplace Manager. Most positions require on-site work at the company's San Francisco headquarters, with select supply chain, legal, and recruiting roles open to hybrid arrangements.
