Dr. Karl Rink joined Infinia in August 2011 as Vice President, Engineering and Development.
He was previously employed by Solar Turbines Incorporated where he was responsible for the design, development, and testing of gas turbine combustion systems and components. Following this role, Dr. Rink was employed by Autoliv, where he developed advanced airbag inflation technologies. In 2001, he accepted a position as Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Idaho.
Dr. Rink is active in the Combustion Institute, the International Pyrotechnics Society (IPS), and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), where he recently served as chair of the Energetic Systems and Components Technical Committee. He was named an Outstanding Mechanical Engineer by Purdue University in 2000 and an Associate Fellow of AIAA in 2007.
Dr. Rink received his bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering and mechanics from the University of Minnesota, his master’s in engineering from Purdue University and his PhD in mechanical engineering from the University of Utah.
