LunaJoy Health Backs Maternal Care Expansion with Automation and Clinic Integration
LunaJoy Health, an Atlanta-based digital health company, has accumulated $7.1 million in funding to scale specialized mental health infrastructure for women. Founded in 2022 and backed by Y Combinator's W22 batch, the company designs software and clinical workflows that embed directly into obstetrics practices and regional health systems.
Rather than operating solely as an independent virtual clinic, the company links into existing medical points of care. Its platform handles care navigation, patient scheduling, and revenue cycle management, using automated software to lower administrative overhead for partner practices. The clinical focus spans specific life stages, including adolescence, pregnancy, postpartum care, infertility, miscarriage, loss, and perimenopause.
To date, the company operates with a core team of six employees, collaborating with more than 15 insurance payers across more than a dozen states.
Clinical Foundations
The company was founded by Sipra Laddha, who serves as chief executive officer, and Shama Rathi. Both founders set out to restructure how maternal and women's behavioral healthcare is distributed, addressing structural shortages of specialized providers.
LunaJoy Health structures its software to plug into outpatient OB/GYN clinics, providing automated triage and intake when patients present behavioral health symptoms during routine checkups. By handling scheduling and insurance billing internally, the platform aims to eliminate friction points that typically prevent patients from following through on mental health referrals.
Funding and LunaCare Rollout
The company added $4.2 million in capital supported by Y Combinator, Goodwater Capital, Emmeline Ventures, MAGIC Fund, VentureSouq, FoundersX Fund, Nurture Ventures, NorthSouth Ventures, and healthcare angel investors, as reported by Femtech Insider.
The funding backed the introduction of LunaCare, an integrated clinical program designed to target high-risk maternal patients and expand coverage for Medicaid recipients. The rollout was planned alongside the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services' ten-year Transforming Maternal Health (TMaH) Model, an initiative aimed at expanding safety and care quality within state Medicaid and CHIP programs.
"Mental health is a lifetime pursuit, and we want to design a way to engage and support women with a variety of needs and varying degrees of risk," said Sipra Laddha in coverage published by FemTech World. "By using technology, we can measure and treat symptoms more effectively, delivering a better service model to meet rising demand and a shortage of therapists in the U.S."
Y Combinator partner Surbhi Sarna noted that the company's objective to establish care standards for Medicaid mothers addresses scalable execution for maternal health initiatives.
Beyond patient navigation, the company has also directed engineering resources toward workforce training. The Business Journals reported that the firm developed training tools for women's mental health clinicians using generative AI-driven avatars to prepare providers for specialized clinical scenarios.
Current Hiring Priorities
LunaJoy Health is expanding its clinical contractor base while staffing an outbound business development operation to grow its network of provider practices.
On the clinical side, the company is recruiting licensed medical staff across the United States to handle therapy, counseling, and medication management. Open postings include a contract Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) role paying $70 to $95 USD per hour, alongside Licensed Mental Health Providers compensated at $60 to $65 USD per hour. The company is also seeking a mid-level Supervising MD on a hybrid contract basis at $200 USD per month to support state-level compliance and practitioner oversight.
To support clinic acquisition, the company is hiring a full-time, hybrid Clinic Outreach Specialist (Sales Cold Caller) covering international candidate locations including the Dominican Republic, Peru, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Honduras, El Salvador, Mexico, Nicaragua, and Bolivia at $8 to $12 USD per hour. This role targets direct integration into independent physician practices, sourcing the clinical partnerships that feed patients into the LunaCare network.
The current hiring distribution highlights a lean full-time staff coordinating an elastic network of telehealth providers and outbound sales callers.
