Cityfurnish Expands Urban Furniture Subscriptions and Adds Creative Roles
Cityfurnish, the Indian furniture and home appliance rental platform backed by Y Combinator, is expanding its operations across metro markets following $10.2 million in total debt and equity funding. Operating across Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, and Chennai, the company manages an end-to-end rental model covering in-house design, manufacturing in solid wood, delivery, and refurbishment.
To support brand outreach and operations in Gurugram, the company has opened nine roles across creative marketing, procurement, and its executive office, including openings for a Brand Lead, a Social Media Executive (Marketing), and an intern in the Founder’s Office - Intern.
Furniture Rentals Built on a Full-Stack Supply Chain
Founded in 2015, Cityfurnish targets India's mobile urban workforce. In Indian metropolitan hubs, more than 70 percent of apartments are unfurnished or semi-furnished, creating friction for professionals relocating for employment every 18 to 24 months.
Rather than relying solely on third-party vendors, Cityfurnish operates a full-stack system. The company designs its furniture using solid Sheesham wood and manages last-mile logistics, offering free delivery within 72 hours alongside maintenance, assembly, and relocation upgrades.
Alongside standard single-item rentals, the platform runs CityMax, a bundled subscription model that lets users furnish an entire apartment—from studio units up to three-bedroom flats—for an upfront fee payable across six-month or annual terms. The company also operates a complementary retail arm, Zior, which sells solid wood furniture with a guaranteed buyback policy; returned items are sanitized, refurbished, and integrated back into the rental inventory to maintain circular asset utilization.
Leadership and Growth Trajectory
Cityfurnish was established by Neerav Jain and Saurabh Gupta. Jain, who serves as founder and CEO, started the business after encountering the costs and hassles of furnishing student accommodation in Delhi. Gupta, who previously built lending technology products at FinBox and founded ClickPe, serves as co-founder.
The startup graduated from Y Combinator's W19 batch and has raised capital from investors including Northern Arc Capital, Western Capital, UC Capital Inclusive, Soma Capital, Liquid 2 Ventures, FJ Labs, Global Founders Capital, and angel investors Steve Chen and Paul Buchheit. As reported by Business Standard, Cityfurnish secured $2.5 million in financing to scale its footprint and technology, reporting sustained profitability and over 100 percent revenue growth through 2022.
