Broccoli AI Secures $52 Million Across Series A and B Led by Khosla Ventures

By Zero G Talent•

Broccoli AI has raised $52 million across Series A and Series B rounds closed nine months apart, both led by Khosla Ventures. Y Combinator and Operator Partners participated in both rounds, which brought the San Francisco company to a reported $300 million valuation according to Fortune.

The funding follows rapid commercial expansion. Broccoli AI builds AI voice agents and software systems that automate customer intake, appointment booking, estimate follow-ups, and membership renewals for residential service contractors. According to reporting from Bharat Fast, more than 1,500 trade businesses use the platform, including Ace Hardware Home Services and Mr. Electric. The company reports handling over 10 million customer conversations and booking 2.5 million appointments to date.

Automating the Front Office for Skilled Trades

Broccoli AI targets the operational overhead of trade companies, including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, roofing, garage door repair, solar, and pool care businesses. Rather than trying to automate technical fieldwork, the platform handles front-office communication.

The system answers incoming telephone calls, schedules field technician visits, follows up on open project estimates, and re-engages past accounts. It integrates directly with trade dispatch and field service management tools such as ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, and Salesforce. Integration depth prevents dual data entry between booking agents and active technician schedules.

According to co-founder Abhishek (AJ) Jain, the platform resolves roughly 80% of routine customer requests without human intervention, doing administrative work equivalent to about 30% of a standard contractor's office staff. The remaining 20% of calls—specifically emergency situations like burst pipes, gas leaks, or active fires—are escalated directly to human dispatchers.

Roots in Contractor Offices

Broccoli AI was founded in 2021 by Abhishek (AJ) Jain and Aditya Ketkar, who met in 2016 at BITS Pilani while studying computer science. Jain started his career as an engineer at Adobe, while Ketkar serves as Broccoli AI's chief technology officer.

As reported by The Times of India, after moving to San Francisco in early 2024, Jain and Ketkar spent months visiting around 140 contractors' offices in Northern California to examine day-to-day dispatch bottlenecks. Their turning point came after visiting Marcelle Flowers, the owner of Armstrong Plumbing in Sacramento. Flowers had been spending $5,000 monthly on a third-party answering service that recorded appointments correctly only about a third of the time.

Jain and Ketkar built a prototype voice handling system for Flowers within ten days and spent three months working directly inside her plumbing office to map workflows. Flowers became Broccoli AI's first commercial customer, contributed to product design and branding, and subsequently joined as executive industry advisor and chief operating officer.

Expansion and Hiring

Broccoli AI's revenue has tripled since its Series A, accompanied by team growth to over 150 employees, according to statements Jain gave to Hindustan Times. The new funding is directed toward expanding voice agent reliability and deploying integrations into new trade categories.

The company is hiring across engineering, operations, and product roles at its San Francisco headquarters. On the technical side, the engineering group is recruiting a Staff Software Engineer / Tech Lead offering $250,000 to $300,000, a Senior Software Engineer, and an entry-level Software Engineer offering up to $300,000.

Product and deployment teams are expanding to bring additional trade sectors onto the platform. Open roles include Senior Product Manager: New Verticals and Strategy & Operations Lead, New Verticals. Client implementation and sales functions are also expanding through searches for a Head of AI Success and an Account Executive, Mid-Market.

All current roles require full-time, onsite presence in San Francisco.
