This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will supervise a team of technicians working to produce additively manufactured hardware in support of Blue Origin’s launch vehicle and spaceflight programs.  You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of additively manufactured spaceflight and supporting hardware, continuous improvement, automation, and process development. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities:

• Supervision of personnel, including training, mentoring, coaching, and monitoring of certain performance indicators.
• Improve safety and address safety concerns as they arise.
• Support recruiting efforts and onboarding of new team members.
• Supporting daily stand-up meetings including reviewing safety, quality, productivity, assessing trends, and support resultant continuous improvement initiatives.
• Promote and inspire team efficacy through practice of leadership principles.
• Develop training materials, and conduct on-the-job training; ensure team member compliance.
• Lead facility 5S activities.
• Operate, maintain, and improve additive manufacturing machines following a standardized workflow that maximizes part quality, machine up-time and production throughput.
• Execute loading/unloading of machine raw materials, and other machinery and equipment consumables.
• Understand, follow, and continuously improve upon process documentation, and conduct other activities which promote defect-free products, configuration control, and traceability.
• Initiate, monitor, and complete builds on various additive machines, and materials.
• Identify and report off-nominal processes and part-defects, with clear and concise documentation, and communication to appropriate engineering personnel.
• Track consumables, supplies, and raw materials, and actively maintain ownership of related purchasing activities.
• Maintain and utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and proactively identify any related shortcomings.
• Identify job hazard analysis (JHA) shortcomings and aid in their authorship.
• Practice safe work place techniques.

Qualifications:

• Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
• Associate’s Degree (2 yr) in a relevant technical discipline with 2 years’ minimum hands-on manufacturing experience; or 4 years’ minimum relevant hands-on manufacturing experience.
• 3+ years’ experience in additive manufacturing (AM) or 4+ years’ experience in related aerospace role.
• An attitude of world-class quality, attention to detail, and dedication.
• Demonstrated track record of resourcefulness from  previous assignments.
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion

Desired:

• Experience working with 3D printing technology in any capacity.
• Experience working with polymers and composite materials in a manufacturing setting.

 

Base Pay Range for:

WA applicants is $113,158.00 - $158,420.85
