About Helion
We are a fusion power company based in Everett, WA, with the mission to build the world's first fusion power plant, enabling a future with unlimited clean electricity. Our vision is a world with clean, reliable, and affordable energy for everyone.
Since Helion's founding in 2013, we have raised $1.5 billion from long-time investors such as Sam Altman, Mithril, and Capricorn Investment Group as well as new investors including Thrive Capital, LightSpeed Venture Capital, SoftBank, and others to propel us forward. Our current prototype, Polaris, has reached record-breaking plasma temperatures of 150 million degrees Celsius (13 keV). Helion is continuing to iterate and on the path to the world's first fusion power plant, Orion.
This is a pivotal time to join Helion. You will tackle real-world challenges with a team that prizes urgency, rigor, ownership, and a commitment to delivering hard truths – values essential to achieving what no one has before. Together, we will change the future of energy, because the world can't wait.
What You Will Be Doing
We are hiring a Senior Director of Build to lead the manufacturing and assembly of Helion's fusion generators and subscale plasma devices. Establish partnerships and operating processes with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Contracting, Materials Management, Logistics, Inventory, and Program Management teams to improve production planning, material flow, scheduling, and execution.
Provide design-for-manufacturability (DFM) feedback to Engineering to improve manufacturability, cost, quality, reliability, and long-term serviceability of Helion's products.
Develop Helion's long-term manufacturing strategy, including make-versus-buy decisions, capital investment planning, and strategic contract manufacturing partnerships to optimize cost, flexibility, speed to deployment, and capital efficiency.
Build and oversee partnerships with general contractors (GCs), EPC firms, specialty fabricators, and regional trade partners to execute generator construction and commissioning activities while maintaining consistent quality, schedule, and safety performance.
Required Skills
10+ years of progressive leadership in advanced manufacturing, industrial production, energy, aerospace, heavy equipment, or other complex capital equipment industries.
Proven success building and scaling high-performing engineering and manufacturing organizations, from rapid hardware prototyping through high-volume, rate-based production.
