The device's own marketing frames the phone as the problem ("notifications, messages, incoming calls… sometimes I don't even want my phone in the room") and positions Pocket as the frictionless alternative. Yet the phone remains the gateway: the app manages sync, settings, and account access. Compromise the phone, and you compromise the Pocket account. That dependency is standard for wearables, but it means the attack surface is not the device alone; it is the entire Apple/Google ecosystem plus Pocket's cloud.

None of this is a verdict that Pocket is insecure.
