Complete Expands Team Across Engineering, Design, and Sales in San Francisco

By Zero G Talent•

Complete is building compensation planning platforms and interactive offer letters to give startups clear strategies around employee pay. The San Francisco-based HR technology startup helps founders and teams design total compensation frameworks spanning salary, equity, bonuses, and benefits.

The company is scaling its onsite team in San Francisco, opening roles across engineering, product design, customer success, and sales. For engineers and tech practitioners looking to build enterprise tools for total rewards management, Complete presents an early-stage environment backed by tier-one investors.

Building a Total Compensation Platform

Founded in 2021, Complete targets the lack of clarity surrounding startup compensation. The startup developed interactive offer letter tools to replace static documents, alongside internal reward tools and compensation planning software. Its platform assists early-stage clients in setting up equity allocations, performance bonuses, and leveling structures for roles.

The software helps founders determine cash and equity split strategies, evaluating negotiable versus non-negotiable offer structures and standardizing compensation philosophies. In an interview with TechCrunch, the team noted that clarity in how total rewards are constructed helps companies build trust with employees and turn compensation strategy into a competitive hiring advantage.

From a technical perspective, Complete runs a React frontend written in TypeScript hosted on Vercel. Its backend is built with Django in Python and hosted on Render. Async communication and project management rely on Linear, Notion, and Slack.

Founder Backgrounds and Seed Backing

Complete was founded by Rani Mavram and Zack Field, both graduates of the University of California, Berkeley. Mavram, who serves as CEO, previously worked on the product team at Google and was named to the Forbes 30 Under 30 list for Enterprise Technology in 2024. Field, the company's CTO, brings prior technical experience as a Tech Lead at Opendoor and an early engineer on UberEats.

Complete went through Y Combinator's W22 batch and raised a $4 million seed round led by Accel. Additional backing comes from Y Combinator, Stripe, Calm, and angel investors from Opendoor and Stripe. Early clients analyzing salaries and total compensation structures on Complete include Vercel, DataStax, Convex, and TrueNorth.

Hiring Focus and Open Roles

With eight open roles listed, Complete is hiring across technical and go-to-market teams to expand product development and customer management.

On the technical side, the startup is recruiting a Senior/Staff Backend Engineer and a Senior/Staff Fullstack Engineer to scale its Python and React architecture. Design leads can look toward the Product Designer position.

To drive revenue growth and customer relationships, Complete is hiring a Founding AE alongside customer support leads and business development roles. All roles are based onsite in San Francisco, CA.
