AgentMail Raises $6M Seed to Build Email Infrastructure for Autonomous AI Agents

By Zero G Talent•

AgentMail raised a $6 million seed round led by General Catalyst to build fully managed email inboxes designed specifically for autonomous AI agents. Y Combinator, Phosphor Capital, and angel investors including Paul Graham, HubSpot CTO Dharmesh Shah, Supabase CEO Paul Copplestone, and Ramp CTO Karim Atiyeh also participated in the round. The San Francisco company, which emerged from Y Combinator's Summer 2025 cohort, provides an API platform that provisions persistent, two-way email inboxes capable of parsing, threading, labeling, searching, and replying without human intervention.

Email remains the core identity and communication standard of the internet. While traditional transactional email APIs focus on sending outbound notifications and legacy mailbox providers enforce rate limits built for human interfaces, AgentMail treats software agents as primary users. The platform allows an agent to create an inbox with a single API call, establishing a durable identity that can send and receive emails across existing software services. Alongside its seed funding, the company launched an onboarding API that enables AI agents to sign up and provision their own email addresses autonomously.

The company was founded in 2025 by University of Michigan graduates Haakam Aujla, Michael Kim, and Adi Singh. Aujla previously worked as a quantitative researcher at Optiver, Kim built autonomous vehicle software at Nvidia, and Singh held venture investment roles at Accel, StepStone Group, and Flex Capital.

AgentMail's technical stack is built on AWS infrastructure including API Gateway, Lambda, DynamoDB, S3, and SQS, with infrastructure configured using Pulumi and application code written entirely in TypeScript. As reported by TechCrunch, demand accelerated following the release of open-source agent frameworks in early 2026, driving adoption across logistics, procurement, finance, and customer support. The company reports serving over 500 B2B customers and handling hundreds of thousands of active agent users.

To support platform adoption, the 10-person team is actively hiring across engineering, operations, and developer support in San Francisco. Open technical roles include a Senior Engineer, Backend/Infra offering $250,000 to $400,000, a Founding Product Engineer paying $200,000 to $250,000, and a Founding Engineer ranging from $150,000 to $250,000. For engineers focused on agent workflows, the company is hiring an Agent Experience Engineer ($125,000 to $190,000) and a Developer Support Engineer ($100,000 to $140,000).

AgentMail is also building out its go-to-market operations with roles such as a GTM Engineer ($120,000 to $200,000), a Founding GTM & Operations Lead ($110,000 to $175,000), and a Founding PLG & Community Lead ($110,000 to $175,000). All open positions are onsite in San Francisco.
