This role is part of Advanced Concepts and Enterprise Engineering (ACE), supporting Blue Origin’s mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. The team fosters innovation and drives engineering workflows of the future, shared solutions and standards, simplicity and lower costs, and manufacturable design.
As a Propulsion Engineer, you will be a key member of our dynamic team, dedicated to the design, development, and implementation of on-orbit propulsion systems. Your expertise will directly contribute to the success of our space missions, ensuring the reliability and performance of our reaction control systems (RCS). This role requires a deep understanding of propulsion principles and a hands-on approach to solving complex engineering challenges.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead the design and analysis of on-orbit propulsion systems, with a focus on reaction control systems (RCS).
- Develop and execute test plans for propulsion components and systems, including performance and environmental testing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including avionics, structures, and systems engineering, to ensure seamless integration of propulsion systems.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation, including design specifications, test reports, and operating procedures.
- Support the full lifecycle of the propulsion system, from initial concept through in-orbit operations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve any anomalies or issues related to the propulsion system.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in the aerospace industry, with a focus on propulsion systems.
- Demonstrated experience with the design, analysis, and testing of on-orbit RCS systems.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks) and fluid analysis tools.
- Strong understanding of fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and combustion processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master of Science or Ph.D. in a related engineering discipline.
- Experience with a variety of propellant types, including hypergolic and electric propulsion.
- Hands-on experience with propulsion system testing and data acquisition.
- Familiarity with industry standards and best practices for spaceflight hardware.
- Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Base Pay Range for:
CA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20 WA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20Other site ranges may differ

Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
