Suresh Prabhu

Suresh Prabhu is a permanent member of the lower house of the Indian Parliament (Lok Sabha), starting with the election of the 11th convening in 1996, when the Indian press nicknamed him "an unexpected breath of fresh air." Chartered lawyer before joining in community activities, Mr. Prabhu was a certified public accountant and financial control department led his native state. During his political career, he led by six ministries, including the Ministry of Industry (1996), Environment and Forests (1998-1999), Chemicals and Fertilizers (1999-2000), Energy (2000-2002). In the status of minister, he led the Task Force for the transfer of the rivers (2002-2004). During his ministerial work he performed with innovative legislative proposals and policy initiatives to improve management transparency and involvement in the administrative process more citizens. Prabhu received the status of "most effective minister" in the Indian government, realizing as the head of line ministries are a number of high-profile innovative projects. Mr. Prabhu also heads the South Asian conference on international rivers, is a senior advisor to the United Nations, a member of the Parliamentary Network on the World Bank and many other international expert groups. Suresh Prabhu strongly believes in the potential of rural India and invests a large amount of effort and energy in their development of an integrated model for low-cost and maximum involvement of the inhabitants themselves. He personally visited 80% of the country's regions.
