As a young lawyer, Eli had to make a tough choice: invest his time in his career, or invest his time managing his money.Like many young professionals, he chose his career. The only things that got done routinely were things that were automated – bill payments, computer backups, food delivery, and season pass on his DVR. Eli had good intentions of setting up investing accounts, but struggled to overcome the hurdle of inertia.He started Betterment so that there would be a smart way for others like him to put their investments on auto-pilot.
