Received a diploma Architectural Association UK. In 1984 he founded his own office David Chipperfield Architects. Currently, the Bureau has 120 offices in 15 countries and is working on projects in Europe, USA and China. In 1999 he was awarded a gold medal Heinrich Tessenow. In 2000 he was one of representing Britain at the Venice Biennale of Architecture. In 2004 he was awarded the title of Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for his services to architecture.
