Director, Procurement and Manufacturing
Job Description
Meet Yubico
Yubico is a global leader in identity security and creator of the YubiKey, the original hardware-backed passkey. We are publicly traded on Nasdaq Stockholm; our global footprint includes headquarters in Stockholm, Sweden, Silicon Valley, California; and Singapore.
Why Join Our Mission?
At Yubico, we are guided by a shared belief that your work matters. We operate under a cultural philosophy of Speed with Integrity, pushing the boundaries of technology to secure the AI frontier—protecting both human and agentic AI interactions—and leading the transition to post-quantum cryptography. In everything we do, we live by our core values:
- Battle Friction: We constantly look for new ways to simplify our products, our work, and the user experience.
- Inspire Higher: We think big, champion the open internet, and strive to do the right thing even when it is difficult.
- One Team: We are open, responsive, and collaborative, overcoming challenges and celebrating our successes together.
Aligned with our commitment to open standards, we foster a thriving builder ecosystem through the Yubico Developer Program, offering free open-source repositories, libraries, and SDKs to help developers rapidly integrate strong hardware authentication into any application. Through close collaborations with technical partners like Google, Microsoft, and Amazon, as well as newer frontiers like OpenAI, we continue to shape a safer digital world while donating security keys to protect vulnerable communities, journalists, and humanitarian groups worldwide through our Secure it Forward program.
At Yubico, we offer:
Yubico Values: We work to ensure that our employees have an open space to have their voices amplified to create a workplace where everyone feels like they belong. In support of this, our employees have created some pretty cool Employee Resource Groups that foster inclusion, help build community and connection across Yubico. Additionally, Yubico donates YubiKeys to organizations in need all over the world (you can read more about our work here).
Social Connection: Relationships and connectedness matter, and we love spending time with our team! Our virtual workspace keeps us connected day-to-day whether it's through Yubico celebrating wins or our buzzing Slack communities. Check out our Life at Yubico Page on LinkedIn and our awards here.
The Role:
This role owns the strategic balance between commercial procurement excellence and advanced manufacturing oversight across Yubico's hardware supply chain. Given our specialized product nature, the primary mission is to optimize the balance between cost, time, and quality while ensuring impeccable relationship governance, absolute supply chain stability, and robust risk mitigation through the development of viable backup plans.
The focus split is 60/40 in favor of Procurement over Engineering. The ideal candidate will be a sharp commercial negotiator capable of managing complex commodity indexing (e.g., precious metal prices affecting electronics) and multi-year capacity reservations with our most vital partners. Simultaneously, they will lead an experienced engineering team to secure our proprietary in-house programming infrastructure, protect co-developed IP, and navigate New Product Introductions (NPI) from a supply standpoint.
The role reports to VP - Supply Chain Operations and is located at Yubico’s head office in Stockholm.
Tasks & Responsibilities:
1. Procurement, Strategic Sourcing and Relationship Governance (60% Focus)
-
Strategic Partner Governance: Manage and mature relationships with our core co-manufacturing partners, navigating complex commercial conversations and aligning supplier expectations with evolving business needs.
-
Commercial Governance and Process Ownership: Act as the internal owner of all hardware procurement processes. In close collaboration with Legal, lead the drafting, negotiation, and execution of Master Services Agreements (MSAs), Quality Assurance Agreements (QAAs), and commercial contracts to ensure Yubico's corporate interests and assets are fully protected.
-
Capacity and Contract Modeling: Secure complex, multi-year capacity reservations with our most critical vendors while hedging against volatile underlying commodity and electronic material prices.
-
Supply Chain Resiliency: Where applicable, transition the supply chain from single-source dependencies to a resilient, dual-sourced ecosystem with viable backup plans, without disrupting historical partner dynamics.
-
Packaging Portfolio Management: Oversee and manage our packaging supplier portfolio, addressing reliability issues and establishing rigorous performance standards to ensure consistent supply.
-
Team Mentorship: Coach and elevate the team to professionalize day-to-day purchasing, track spend transparency, and manage contract compliance.
2. Manufacturing, Automation and In-House Production (40% Focus)
-
In-House Programming Infrastructure: Support the development, scaling, and operational uptime of Yubico’s proprietary in-house production and programming/flashing stations.
-
Structured Engineering Leadership: Provide structured management to a highly experienced team of mechanical and automation engineers, channeling their expertise into well-documented processes.
-
IP Protection in Co-Development: Establish strict operational and legal boundaries for the automation lines, fixtures, and parts our engineering team co-designs with suppliers, ensuring Yubico’s proprietary innovations are contractually protected.
-
Quality Safeguards: Oversee the Supplier Quality domain to enforce strict cosmetic and technical standards, ensuring only the top tier of manufacturers operate in our ecosystem.
3. NPI and Cross-Functional Integration
-
Product Launch Readiness: Serve as the operational anchor for new product launches. Drive proactive, flawless communication ahead of launches to ensure all suppliers, sub-suppliers, and internal teams are aligned on NPI milestones.
-
One Supply Chain Umbrella: Partner intimately with Planning, Logistics, and Fulfillment to ensure procurement strategies, lead times, and capacity reservations map perfectly against rolling demand forecasts.
Basic Qualifications:
-
Experience: 10+ years of hardware/industrial supply chain experience, heavily weighted toward electronics procurement, supplier relationship management, and contract structural design.
-
The Versatile Career Background: Ideally exhibits a proven blend of experience—having cut their teeth within highly disciplined, mature industrial organizations to learn world-class operational structure, combined with clear success inside agile, fast-moving scale-ups that move at pace.
-
The "Hybrid" Skillset: A seasoned commercial leader who is entirely comfortable negotiating multi-million dollar capacity commitments, but possesses enough technical depth to lead automation and mechanical domains.
-
NPI Proven Track Record: Deep, hands-on experience guiding complex electronic products through difficult New Product Introduction (NPI) phases under tight deadlines.
-
Diplomatic Commercial Acumen: Proven ability to handle difficult, high-stakes supplier conversations with diplomacy, protecting the relationship while securing Yubico’s operational and financial interests.
-
Operational Rigor: A builder who can walk into an ecosystem running on low-documentation and implement clean, scalable processes, acting as a trusted, professional partner to our innovative design and engineering teams
