Job Description
About Loombotic
Loombotic is bringing wire-harness manufacturing back to America, and automating a job still done almost entirely by hand. Harnesses are the nervous system of every robot, vehicle, and machine, and they stay slow and expensive for one reason: nobody automated them, so the work shipped overseas. We build our own instant-quoting software and our own machines to make harnesses here, and ship a custom one in about a week instead of 6 to 12. Teams building robotics, aerospace, and advanced thermal and data-center hardware rely on us to get custom cables in days, not months.
This is an early role. You won't just check boxes — you'll help define how Loombotic inspects, tests, documents, and improves what it ships. Expect to wear several hats and build systems as the factory scales.
The role
You'll own quality at the handoff between automated production, manual finishing, electrical test, rework, and shipment — inspecting harnesses and cable assemblies, running and supporting electrical tests, documenting defects, and helping production and engineering kill recurring issues before they reach customers. You don't need startup experience. You do need to care deeply about accuracy, documentation, and repeatability.
What you'll do
-
Perform in-process, final, and shipment-readiness inspection on harnesses and cable assemblies, including those coming off our automated line
-
Verify crimps, connector assembly, pin placement, routing, labeling, strain relief, wire length, heat shrink, and seals against spec
-
Run and support continuity and other electrical verification
-
Work from drawings, BOMs, schematics, pinout tables, and work instructions to confirm assemblies meet customer requirements
-
Document inspection/test results, defects, rework, and nonconformances accurately, and maintain traceability
-
Identify recurring defects and process/documentation gaps; participate in root-cause and corrective action
-
Verify reworked harnesses before release; control and label nonconforming material
-
Support incoming inspection of connectors, terminals, wire, and other materials as needed
-
Help build and improve inspection checklists, acceptance criteria, test procedures, and rework flows
-
Support first-article builds, pilot runs, and customer-critical releases
You are
-
Detail-oriented, precise under pressure, organized, and consistent
-
Serious about documentation — if it isn't recorded correctly, it didn't happen
-
Comfortable hands-on with small parts, crimps, connectors, and finished assemblies on a production floor
-
Willing to stop and raise an issue when something looks wrong
-
A clear communicator who flags problems without creating drama
-
Low-ego and happy to do the unglamorous work that needs doing
-
Always looking for ways to make the process better
Minimum qualifications
-
High school diploma or equivalent
-
1+ year in quality inspection, electrical/wire-harness/cable assembly, electronics, or a similar hands-on production role
-
Able to read or learn drawings, BOMs, pinout tables, schematics, and work instructions, and follow detailed inspection/test procedures
-
Strong attention to detail and accurate documentation habits
-
Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs unassisted
-
Comfortable working full-time on-site in Austin, TX
-
Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (we're unable to sponsor visas for this role)
Nice to have
-
Wire harness, cable, or electrical assembly inspection experience
-
Crimp/connector inspection, continuity, hipot, pull testing, or harness test fixtures
-
Familiarity with connector families such as Molex (Mini-Fit Jr, Micro-Fit), TE, Deutsch (DT/DTM/DTP), Amphenol, JST, Hirose, D-Sub, circular, and sealed automotive
-
IPC/WHMA-A-620 familiarity or certification
-
First-article, in-process, final, or rework-verification experience
-
NCR/CAPA, root-cause analysis, or corrective action experience
-
Background in aerospace, defense, automotive/EV, robotics, industrial automation, electronics, or contract manufacturing
-
ERP/MES/quality-system software; experience building inspection checklists or procedures
-
ISO 9001, AS9100, or lean manufacturing exposure
What we care about
Ownership and judgment over fancy resumes. A great Quality Technician catches the bad crimp, the wrong cavity, the swapped pin, the missing label, the wrong revision — and the recurring defect everyone else has learned to work around. This role protects the customer and protects the factory, and we want someone who takes pride in clean records and high standards.
Compensation & benefits
-
$26-$34/hour DOE, overtime eligible
-
Medical, dental, and vision coverage
-
Paid time off and company holidays
-
Training and certification support, including potential IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification
-
Clear growth path: Senior Quality Technician → Quality Lead → Process Engineering, Operations, or Manufacturing Leadership
-
Clean, modern facility and hands-on work with automated harness production
-
Access to our engineering lab and tools for approved personal projects — we like people who build things
How to apply
Apply with your resume and short answers to:
-
Tell us about a time you caught a quality issue before it reached a customer or caused a bigger problem.
-
What have you inspected, and what methods have you used (continuity testing, crimp/connector inspection, final inspection, rework verification, etc.)?
-
Have you worked from drawings, BOMs, pinouts, or work instructions? Give a quick example.
-
(Optional) What ERP/MES/quality systems have you used?
