Together, we're building the most advanced financial infrastructure, open, instant, and global, inspiring a future where anyone, anywhere can access the full potential of digital money.
We are looking for a hands-on AML Manager to help run the AML/CTF and sanctions framework of Lightspark’s Estonian regulated entity. The role will be responsible for keeping us on top of our AML obligations as the business grows, turning requirements into working processes, controls, checks and record. You will work closely with the Compliance Manager (MLRO), management, and teams across the business, giving practical compliance support that helps the company move forward without taking unnecessary risks.
As AML Manager, you will run the day-to-day side of our AML/CTF and sanctions controls. Your work will cover quality assurance of CDD/EDD, transaction monitoring and screening, oversight of first-line case handling, escalations and suspicious activity reporting, periodic assessments, AML training and the maintenance of our AML policies and procedures. You will also act as deputy to the Compliance Manager (MLRO). This is a second-line role where AML expertise and sound, well-documented judgement matter equally.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Support the Compliance Manager (MLRO) in overseeing the AML/CTF and sanctions framework as a second-line function.
Act as the Compliance Manager’s delegate during absences, including reviewing internal escalations and deciding on suspicious activity reports to the FIU.
Support and guide the first line in daily operations and oversee the quality of how tasks are resolved.
Provide quality assurance over CDD/EDD, transaction monitoring and screening controls, including sampling, findings, and tracking corrective actions to closure.
Conduct periodic analyses and assessments in line with the company’s AML/CFT and sanctions policies.
Contribute to the AML risk assessment and maintain AML policies and procedures, both within the review cycle and when products, processes or regulation change.
Organize AML training for staff in line with company policies and regulatory requirements and maintain the training records.
Design, improve and implement compliance policies, procedures and tools together with the management board and other departments, so that they meet regulatory requirements and fit business needs.
Work with Legal, Risk, Operations, Product and Finance to build AML/CTF and sanctions requirements into daily operations.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
5+ years of experience in AML/CTF compliance, risk management or due diligence, ideally at a financial institution, fintech or payment business.
Bachelor’s degree in law, business, finance, economics or a comparable field, or equivalent practical experience. We appreciate that some of the best talent comes from non-traditional backgrounds.
Deep knowledge of KYB, KYC, CDD and EDD processes, together with a solid understanding of EU and Estonian AML/CTF regulatory frameworks and supervisory practice.
Experience investigating cases and filing STRs.
Ability to meet the regulatory fit and proper requirements for a deputy MLRO role.
Familiarity with SumSub, ComplyAdvantage or similar AML screening tools.
Strong analytical and investigative skills, with sound, well-documented judgement on when to resolve a matter independently and when to escalate, and the independence to operate as a second-line function.
High attention to detail and discipline in keeping records, case files and deadlines that must withstand supervisory review.
Good communication skills, with the ability to explain AML requirements in practical terms to non-compliance audiences, and a strong commitment to ethical standards.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, regulated environment without compromising accuracy.
Fluency in Estonian and English, as the role reviews Estonian-language corporate and regulatory documentation and communicates with Estonian authorities and counterparties.
Experience in a multinational, high-growth company is a plus.
On-site 5 days, Full time, permanent
