The Manager, Physical Security Systems serves as the primary physical security subject matter expert (SME) for Voyager Technologies, leading the enterprise program across access control, intrusion detection, and video surveillance. This role collaborates closely with Facilities, Information Technology, and other cross-functional partners to ensure security requirements are incorporated into capital projects, renovations, infrastructure improvements, and new construction. This role is an onsite roll supporting our company-wide physical security and will be working from our Long Beach; CA. location This role will require a minimum of an active DOD Secret clearance, Top Secret or TS/SCI preferred at time of hire.
This position translates strategic objectives into operational execution — leading security technology projects, managing capital expenditures, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and developing a high-performing technical workforce. This is a hybrid leadership and hands-on role requiring strong technical depth, program management capability, and the communication skills to engage both frontline technicians and senior executives. This role requires future team leadership and oversight responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Security Systems Operations
- Manage the daily operation, maintenance, and administration of enterprise Access Control Systems (ACS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), and Video Management Systems (VMS) across multiple Voyager locations, to include newly acquired or built locations.
- Ensure the reliability, availability, and lifecycle management of physical security technology through preventative maintenance, system monitoring, troubleshooting, and vendor coordination.
- Manage badge administration processes, physical access authorization, credential lifecycle management, and associated security policies.
Capital Projects & Program Management
- Plan and execute physical security technology projects — system upgrades, facility expansions, renovations, and new construction — on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with company standards.
- Coordinate contractors, integrators, vendors, and internal stakeholders; review construction drawings and facility design documents to ensure physical security requirements are met.
- Support development and execution of capital investment plans and operating budgets for security technology.
Cross-Functional Partnership & SME Support
- Ensure security requirements are incorporated into capital projects, renovations, infrastructure improvements, and new construction planning.
- Support vendor management activities including service agreements, preventative maintenance programs, procurement, and performance oversight.
Reporting, Documentation & Compliance
- Maintain documentation (system configurations, asset inventories, maintenance records, drawings, SOPs) and ensure compliance with company policies, contractual requirements, and regulatory standards.
- Monitor operational performance, identify improvements, and communicate findings through executive-level reports, metrics, and presentations.

Required Qualifications
- Minimum seven plus years of progressively responsible experience supporting enterprise physical security operations with related education to support physical security compliance.
- Demonstrated experience administering enterprise access control, intrusion detection, and video management systems.
- Experience with enterprise security platforms such as LenelS2, Genetec, Brivo, or comparable enterprise systems.
- Experience leading security technology implementation projects and coordinating cross-functional stakeholders.
- Experience managing contractors, vendors, and security system integrators.
- Strong leadership skills with demonstrated success building, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience preparing executive presentations and operational reports.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Active Secret clearance required at time of hire; Top Secret or TS/SCI preferred.
- Ability to travel to US locations up to 50% or more as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- BS degree and an undergraduate degree in criminal justice, security management, or a related field.
- Professional certifications: Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Project Management Professional (PMP), or equivalent.
- Prior experience with Security Operations Center (SOC) team leadership — including hiring, scheduling, training, and performance management of SOC analysts/operators — a plus.
- Experience supporting defense, aerospace, manufacturing, or other highly regulated operational environments.
- Familiarity with NISPOM, UL 2050, ICD 705, CMMMC and other applicable physical security standards and regulations.
- Experience supporting multi-site operations with geographically dispersed teams.
- Experience developing capital investment recommendations and supporting long-term technology modernization initiatives.
- Knowledge of electronic security system design principles, integrated security technologies, and physical security best practices.
- Demonstrated ability to lead organizational change and continuous improvement initiatives.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
This position requires full-time on-site presence at Voyager Technologies headquarters with regular travel (up to 35%) to domestic facility locations including manufacturing sites, laboratories, and secured environments. The role may involve physical activities such as working from elevated platforms, lifts, and ladders; lifting and carrying equipment up to 50 lbs.; and performing systems work in constrained spaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required at certain facility locations.
The good faith base salary range for this role is 150,000-195,000 at the time of this posting. Where you fall within the range depends on your experience, skills, and location. This range reflects base salary only and does not include benefits or bonus/incentive. This range may be adjusted in the future.
