Major Duties

(Continued from Summary) GS-07 The primary purpose of this position is to provide assistance in support of the Air Reserve Personnel Center's office, which is primary responsible for researching, verifying, correcting and updating the Military Personnel Data System the users (MilPDS) of for various data items to ensure the proper career credit and accurate accounting of members for PAS S7 our Reserve resources; being accountable to and officially documenting transfers of members within the portion of the Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) and Standby Reserve; and to perform various other military personnel duties as required. Duties GS-05 Performs developmental work assignments Performs recurring work assignments Participates in special studies and projects Prepares written correspondence and other documentation GS-06/07 Assists in performing analyses, computes, verifies and updates for a variety of data elements in MilPDS for Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard members in accordance with current and historical laws, governing directives and internal policies Assists in making the appropriate determinations of member's status and proper assignment within IRR/Standby Reserve Independently develops and provides verbal and written responses to inquiries and answers questions either through the Case Management System (CMS), REMEDY, telephone, writing, E-mail Assists in processing gain actions and loss requests within IRR/Standby Reserve S7 PAS Inquires correct against office and updates computer files.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, 0203 Series. (GS-05) SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of basic principles of human resource (HR) rules, procedures, and operations in an HR automated system sufficient for the maintenance of military personnel records and documents. Basic knowledge of Department of Defense files, laws, directives, instructions, policies and procedures. OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. Skill in the use and application of PDS data, ACCESS, EXCEL, ORACLE HR and other analytical and technical software packages. Knowledge of automated systems, personal computers, and relational database technology. Ability to analyze data/ products to determine adequacy of data to support programs within the USAFR and Air National Guard structures. OR EDUCATION: Successful completion of one year of graduate education that is directly related to the work of this position in a field directly related such as, Human Resources, which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. Knowledge of and ability to operate computers for retrieval of information and records/ARMS documents, and ability to update MilPDS. Ability to select and apply the particular law, rule, instruction, procedure or precedent appropriate to the individual case or circumstance. Ability to work under the pressure of established deadlines and short suspenses. Skill in maintaining effective working relationships in and outside the office and in serving as the primary point or responsible contact for the work involved. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-04 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-05 level. One year at the GS-05 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-06 level. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks.
