Sieve Hires Engineers to Scale Video Data for Frontier AI Labs
Sieve is expanding its technical and operations footprint in San Francisco, posting roles across infrastructure, modeling, and operations as demand for large-scale video training data grows among generative AI teams. The 18-person company curates petabytes of video and runs computer vision filtering systems to deliver high-quality datasets to frontier labs and enterprise customers.
Video represents roughly 80% of internet traffic, but frontier models have faced training bottlenecks caused by noisy, unstructured visual data. Sieve tackles this by pairing large-scale data ingestion pipelines with video understanding models to filter, structure, and package training data for teams working on generative video, robotics, and spatial computing.
Building Exabyte-Scale Video Pipelines
The company began as an API built by co-founder and CEO Mokshith Voodarla to query frames from raw footage, as reported by Hackster.io in 2022. Since then, Sieve has expanded into an end-to-end platform for video and audio data processing.
In late 2024, audio technology firm ai|coustics partnered with Sieve to integrate speech enhancement models, Lark and Finch, into the platform. According to Podnews, the integration brought studio-quality audio processing into Sieve's video pipelines, removing background noise and room reverberation for developers building multimedia applications.
Financial data provider GetLatka estimated Sieve's 2024 revenue at $1.8 million when the team operated with 12 people. Backed by Y Combinator (W22), Matrix, Swift Ventures, AI Grant, and Lucy Guo, Sieve has raised Series A funding to expand its core data platform.
Technical Leadership from Scale AI and NVIDIA
Sieve was founded by Mokshith Voodarla and Abhinav Ayalur, who first collaborated on their high school robotics team before earning B.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley.
Voodarla previously developed computer vision systems at Scale AI, NVIDIA, and Ford, where he worked on the operational and scaling challenges of real-world visual analytics. Ayalur, who serves as CTO, leads technical design and architecture, bringing engineering experience in computer vision, data analysis, and APIs from Second Spectrum, NVIDIA, Microsoft, and Niantic.
Hiring Across Systems, Research, and Operations
Sieve lists eight open roles, all based onsite at its San Francisco headquarters. Engineering compensation spans from $150,000 to $300,000, while operations and talent positions range from $120,000 to $250,000.
On the core infrastructure team, the company is recruiting a Distributed Systems Engineer to manage exabyte-scale data pipelines, alongside a Reliability Engineer to ensure platform uptime under heavy processing loads. To design and deploy filtering and generation models, Sieve is hiring an Applied Research Engineer and a Software Engineer.
To balance engineering growth with dataset workflows, Sieve has also opened roles for a Data Operations Lead to manage raw input pipelines, a Product & Ops Lead, and an internal Recruiting specialist.
