Runway hires VP of Enterprise Revenue at $400k–$475k amid enterprise AI video push

By Priya Nair

The Money Moves to Production-Grade Video Agents

Runway added six enterprise-weighted roles in seven days, per Zero G Talent's job board. The newest hires — VP of Enterprise Revenue, VP of Growth & Emerging Revenue, two Research Science Managers for Foundation Models, a Strategic Enterprise Account Executive for Majors, and an Applied Research Science Lead for Reinforcement Learning — form a complete go-to-market stack for seven-figure deals. That velocity signals customers moving from pilots to production contracts.

Pika Labs launched an iOS social app and an audio-driven video generation model in the same window. The company's public roadmap shows a shift from short-form creator tools toward enterprise-grade infrastructure. Pika 2.5 introduced a physics-aware engine, Turbo generation running three times faster at one-seventh the credit cost, and Pikaframes clips up to 25 seconds. The Pikaffects, Pikaswaps, and Pikaformance toolkit packages effects, such as viral transformations and talking-character lip sync from a still image, that no other model bundles as cleanly.

PikaStream 1.0 entered beta in April 2026: a real-time visual engine for AI agents delivering personalized video at 24 frames per second with roughly 1.5-second speech-to-video latency. The demo integration lets a Pika AI Self join a Google Meet call as a live, talking participant. Pika AI Selves, in early beta at pika.me, persist across Slack, Telegram, WhatsApp, Discord, and iMessage with memory, voice, and likeness. For developers, a public API is in active development; third-party platforms like fal.ai already expose Pika models, including text-to-video, image-to-video, Pikaframes, and Pikascenes, with webhooks, quality controls, and turbo modes.

Runway's hiring profile — quota-carrying enterprise sellers, foundation-model research leads, reinforcement-learning specialists — mirrors the stack needed for scalable inference, workflow integration, and model reliability at broadcast volume. The company describes its mission as "building foundational Real-World Intelligence that can understand, simulate and act in the world."

A Name Collision Obscures the Real Story

Disney+ announced a deal in late 2024 for exclusive sponsorship of "Stick to Football," Gary Neville's flagship show, plus a new Rooney format. The Guardian framed it as a counter to Netflix's Lineker deal. Deadline called it a "riposte." Yahoo Sports noted the escalating arms race for football podcast audiences. Disney's release led with the show's awards and Rooney as a tentpole for video podcasts.

Those sources describe a footballer-owned media brand, The Overlap, licensing its hit podcast to a streamer. The Overlap is a multi-award-winning YouTube channel with 1.75M subscribers featuring football content from Gary Neville, Roy Keane, and other former professionals. The research contains no workflow deals with iHeart Media or Barstool Sports, no AI clipping automation, and no hiring data for engineers skilled in LLMs, Next.js, or GCP for any company named Overlap.

If an AI video agent startup also named Overlap exists, it left no footprint in the research: no funding announcements, no product launches, no executive quotes, no customer case studies, no job postings on Zero G Talent. The Disney+ deal cites Neville and Rooney, not a founding team or CTO. iHeart Media references in the research concern radio host layoffs and SiriusXM merger talks, not an AI editing partnership. Barstool Sports does not appear.

Enterprise adoption of AI video agents is real. The hiring surge at Runway and capital flowing to Pika confirm it. But the claim that the Overlap which signed with Disney+ drives that adoption finds no support. The name collision appears to be the only link.

Horizontal Tools Race Purpose-Built Workflows

Pika Labs and Runway both operate AI video generation platforms. Now each races to prove its models slot into professional media pipelines, not just TikTok feeds.

Pika's public roadmap shows the shift. The company launched Pika 1.0 in 2023 with text-to-video and image-to-video aimed at short-form creators. Pricing still reflects that origin: a free tier capped at 80 credits monthly, 480p resolution, no commercial rights; a Pro plan unlocks 2,300 credits, 1080p, watermark-free exports, and commercial use, roughly 57 five-second clips per month. But the last six months of releases tell a different story. As before, Pika 2.5 delivers a physics-aware engine, 3× faster Turbo generation at 1/7 credit cost, Pikaframes to 25s, and the Pikaffects/Pikaswaps/Pikaformance toolkit with viral effects and it, uniquely bundled.

Then came enterprise-grade infrastructure: the PikaStream 1.0 beta (April 2026) with its it at 24 fps, ~1.5s speech-to-video latency, the Google Meet demo, persistent AI Selves across messaging platforms with memory/voice/likeness, and the developer API with fal.ai exposure, all as previously detailed, plus selective partner access.

Runway's response is quieter but louder in the labor market. Its mission remains as stated. Its product surface, "every model you need to make anything you want," still reads like a creative suite. But the it, as noted earlier.

The strategic divergence is clear. Pika productizes its effects engine into real-time, persistent agents and an API layer enterprise developers can embed. Runway hires sales and research leadership to take foundation models directly into major accounts. Both move toward the same destination: a video automation layer media companies trust for daily production, not experimental content.

Neither competitor has announced a Disney+-scale content deal or an iHeart-scale workflow integration. The advantage belongs to whichever vendor delivers specificity: agents that clip, caption, and publish short-form video from long-form sources inside the exact CMS and distribution pipes partners already use. Horizontal capability, backed by real-time latency and enterprise sales muscle, must now prove it can displace purpose-built workflows that already have the logos.

The VP Role That Signals the Shift

The VP of Enterprise Revenue at Runway carries a compensation band per Zero G Talent's board data. That number — not a funding announcement, not a demo — is the clearest signal that media companies are writing seven-figure checks for video automation they trust in production. The hiring board doesn't lie.
