Crescent Space markets itself as Lockheed Martin's commercial arm for lunar infrastructure — a services company connecting "everyone and everything on and around the Moon," but its live postings cluster around a factory floor in Ohio and a production line in Pennsylvania, not a mission control center.

As of last week, Zero G Talent's board shows two active categories: a single People Operations Manager in West Chester, Ohio, salaried per the table below, and multiple Line Worker listings across second and third shifts. Those postings sit at two West Chester addresses on Crescent Park Drive, one on Fairfield Union Centre Boulevard, and two in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania on Independence Avenue. Only one salaried role appears in the current set; the line-worker positions carry no published band, consistent with hourly manufacturing hires.

Five production-floor postings against one corporate hire suggests Crescent is staffing a physical operations hub before it scales the engineering teams its lunar narrative implies. The locations map to Lockheed Martin's existing footprint. A People Operations Manager at that median indicates a first dedicated HR lead, the kind a 2022-founded, 11-to-50-person company hires when headcount is about to cross the threshold informal processes can't handle.

A SimplyHired posting for a mission operations role ("design, develop, and execute the Crescent mission operations plan") demanded "significant experience in operations," but that listing does not appear in the current live board extract. The board's snapshot may lag, or the role may have been filled or pulled. What is visible now is a hiring pulse weighted toward shift work at fixed addresses, not remote-eligible systems engineering.

What is public reveals a company building its terrestrial backbone (technicians to run hardware, a People Ops lead to manage the influx) before the lunar service layer goes live.

The Screen: Citizenship, Systems Fluency, Ownership

Crescent Space operates as Lockheed Martin's lunar infrastructure subsidiary, and that lineage shapes every filter a candidate hits. The company's public job postings make the priority explicit: U.S. citizenship or a qualifying immigration status (lawful permanent resident, asylee, refugee, or specific ITAR license holder) is a hard gate before a technical screen begins, the same restriction that governs SpaceX and every other prime handling launch vehicles or classified payloads. H-1B holders and international students are generally ineligible.

The People Operations Manager role in West Chester likely owns the clearance sponsorship pipeline.

Publicly available data does not include candidate interview reports, assessment descriptions, or timeline specifics for Crescent's lunar roles. Technical depth expectations mirror the parent company's "technical fellow" culture: interviewers probe first-principles reasoning over trivia. The five-topic cluster that dominates SpaceX onsites — thermodynamics, structural analysis, fluid mechanics, failure modes, GD&T — is a reasonable proxy for what a Lockheed-derived systems screen stresses, but Crescent's lunar focus adds radiation environments, dust mitigation, and long-duration thermal cycling in vacuum.

Behavioral assessment follows an ownership-under-pressure model. Interviewers listen for end-to-end accountability. The mission-obsession probe is specific: articulate why a sustainable lunar presence matters to national security. Speed of iteration appears in the form of questions about delivering prototypes under compressed schedules. Answers that gloss over tradeoffs or blame schedule pressure get flagged.

By seeking industry input on lunar enabling infrastructure requirements, NASA is effectively asking contractors what workforce they can field, and when. The answers will shape contract structures, milestones, and potentially the pace of the entire Moon-base program. Crescent's hiring surge, viewed against that backdrop, is not just a staffing event. It is a leading indicator of whether the industrial base can convert funded milestones into flown hardware on schedule.

The View from the Factory Floor

The hiring surge at Crescent Space reflects a specific constellation of pressures — lunar infrastructure-as-a-service, Lockheed Martin's prime-contractor heritage, and the clearance-heavy workflows that come with both — that do not generalize across the space labor market. Finally, the talent-pipeline dynamics at play here — clearance processing as the primary bottleneck, decade-long program horizons that reward retention, a digital transformation push (1LMX) that reshapes the skill mix toward model-based systems engineering and AI/ML integration — are specific to Lockheed Martin's operating model and its lunar-services subsidiary.
