Mission command is the Space Force's chosen approach to command and control, per Space Doctrine Publication 6-0 from November 2024. It is a philosophy centered on the art of command, the science of control, and the discipline of decision making. The character, commitment, connection, and courage of individual Guardians are explicitly named as the service's confidence in its ability to fight and win against any adversary. This is not a culture that rewards individual autonomy or entrepreneurial risk-taking. It rewards precision, adherence to protocol, and mission success above all. Those seeking that alignment will find the structure clear; those seeking flexibility will find the hierarchy unyielding.

What the hiring bar selects for

The Space Force does not recruit for breadth. It recruits for depth in a narrow band of technical and analytical work, then layers on clearance eligibility and, above all, the ability to operate inside a rigid chain of command.
