Truss is a regulated fintech for the construction industry: real bank accounts, real money movement, cards, payables, receivables. Compliance is not a side quest. Every business we onboard and every case we clear has to be accurate, documented, and defensible to our bank partners.
We're hiring a Junior Compliance Analyst to work our compliance case queue — reviewing documents, running KYC/KYB checks, and researching customers, following policy set by our fraud and risk team. This is a hands-on role for someone with at least a year of detail-heavy compliance, KYC, or fraud ops experience who wants to grow inside a payments company.
This role is in person in Austin, TX starting January 1, 2027. Until then, it's remote.
What You'll Actually Do
- Work the case queue. Review onboarding and compliance cases and clear them with crisp, documented reasoning.
- Analyze documents. Review business formation documents, IDs, bank statements, EINs, licenses, and proof of address — and catch what doesn't match, looks altered, or needs follow-up.
- Run KYC/KYB checks. Verify individuals and businesses, identify beneficial owners, and clear sanctions/OFAC, PEP, and adverse media hits.
- Research customers. Dig into businesses and owners using public records, Secretary of State filings, websites, licensing boards, and open sources to confirm they are who they say they are.
- Leave a clean audit trail. Document every decision, check, and source so any case can be reconstructed by a reviewer, auditor, or bank partner months later.
- Follow and apply policy. Execute procedures set by our fraud and risk team consistently, and flag gaps, edge cases, and patterns so the policy gets better.
- Escalate well. Know when a case needs a senior reviewer, and hand it off with the work already done.
What We're Looking For
- 1+ years in compliance, KYC/KYB, AML, fraud operations, or banking operations.
- Strong attention to detail — you notice when a name, address, or date is slightly off.
- Clear written judgment: you can explain why you approved, declined, or escalated a case.
- Comfort working a queue with both speed and accuracy.
- Curiosity and good research instincts.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship).
- Able to work in person in Austin, TX starting January 1, 2027.
Nice to Haves
- Familiarity with BSA/AML, CIP/CDD, and OFAC concepts.
- Experience with tools like Alloy, Persona, Middesk, Unit21, or similar.
- Exposure to fintech, payments, or sponsor-bank / program-manager environments.
- Basic SQL or spreadsheet skills.
- Interest in construction or small business.
About the Interview
- 15-minute phone/video screen
