About Runtime

Runtime (runtm.com) is the agent harness that payment companies, banks, and lenders use to run their operations with leaner teams. Their ops teams build agents that trace stuck payments, work fraud and compliance alerts, clear reconciliation breaks, and investigate escalations across support tools, codebases, and logs. We work with fast-growing fintech unicorns and payments companies that move hundreds of billions of dollars a year. Their teams use Runtime every day, and it's already mission-critical infrastructure for them.

The team

We're AI engineers who've built payment and AI infrastructure at Fortune 500 scale, so we know the work our customers' underwriting, risk, and compliance teams do every day.

Gus Trigos, co-founder and CEO. AI engineer and second-time YC founder. Former quant in BlackRock's AI Quantitative Investment Group. Built Mentum (YC S21, acquired last year) for Latin America's largest asset and wealth managers, handling $20B+ in AUM data and 120k transactions a month.

Carlos Volante, co-founder and CTO. Scaled underwriting and payment reconciliation infrastructure at Modern Treasury, Finix, and Hulu's payments team (Disney), covering billions in volume, near-perfect uptime, and billing for tens of millions of users.

About the role

You'll be our first operations hire, working in person in San Francisco with Carlos, Gus, and our founding engineers. We sell a platform that helps ops teams do more with fewer people, so we run our own company the same way. We dogfood Runtime heavily, and you'll build internal agents for every part of our operations instead of hiring around each new problem. You'll also own the customer experience, which means you'll see firsthand what our customers' ops teams deal with and help shape the product around it.

What you'll do

  • Own customer experience end to end, from onboarding and support to making sure every customer team gets real value from Runtime week after week
  • Build and run internal agents on Runtime for our own operations, like customer onboarding, support triage, sales ops, finance, recruiting, and security and compliance work
  • Use coding agents like Runtime, Claude Code or Cursor daily to automate workflows, write scripts, and pull data together
  • Run the operating cadence of the company, including metrics, customer health, renewals, and board and investor reporting
  • Be our toughest internal user, feeding bugs and product ideas straight to engineering

What we're looking for

  • Experience in operations, customer success, or support at a fintech, payments company, bank, or other financial institution
  • Hands-on use of coding agents and AI tools. You don't need to be an engineer, but you should be comfortable building things yourself
  • Comfort working with customers at every level, from an ops analyst to a COO or CFO
  • A strong bias to automate the second time you do something by hand
  • Comfort with ambiguity and moving fast on a small team, in person in SF

About Runtime

Runtime (runtm.com) gives engineering teams control and visibility to enable anyone in their org to use coding agents securely. Eng leaders rolling out coding agents have no way to see what's happening, set boundaries, or safely let non-engineers use them. We provide sandboxed environments, session-level observability, and configurable guardrails so anyone on your team can ship with coding agents without breaking prod. We're live with fast-growing YC scaleups empowering their Engineers, PMs, designers, marketers, and ops to contribute to their codebase or build prod-grade zero-to-one apps.
