About the Role

We are looking for a Controller to help own the accounting function.

This is a core accounting leadership role responsible for maintaining accurate books and records, running the monthly close, producing financial statements, overseeing accounting operations, and ensuring strong financial controls across the company.

You will work closely with the CFO and Head of Accounting and will be responsible for making sure Corgi's accounting infrastructure is accurate, timely, and scalable as the company grows.

What You'll Do

• Own Corgi's day-to-day accounting operations and general ledger.
• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial statements and management reporting.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll accounting, expense accounting, and account reconciliations.
• Ensure accurate recording of accruals, prepaids, fixed assets, depreciation, and other balance sheet activity.
• Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Ensure accounting practices comply with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Manage the chart of accounts and accounting structure as the business grows.
• Oversee intercompany accounting and reconciliations across Corgi's entities.
• Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and other external accounting requirements with outside advisors.
• Partner with the finance team on budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Monitor cash activity and work with the finance team on cash management and banking relationships.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, and automation.
• Manage and develop members of the accounting team.
• Serve as a key accounting partner to leadership and other teams across Corgi.
• Support special projects and other financial initiatives as the company grows.

What We're Looking For

• CPA and 7+ years of progressive accounting experience required.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience owning or leading a monthly close process.
• Experience managing accounting operations across multiple functions.
• Strong understanding of balance sheet reconciliations and financial statement preparation.
• Experience with internal controls and accounting policies.
• Experience working with external auditors and tax advisors.
• Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills and experience with modern accounting systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and a high standard for accuracy.
• Strong organizational and project management skills.
• Ability to operate independently and take ownership of the accounting function.
• Excellent communication skills and comfort working directly with senior leadership.
