Role and responsibilities

Being a Medior Cryptography Security Expert, you bring hands‑on expertise, curiosity, and a growth mindset. You collaborate closely with senior cryptography leaders, IT, product, and engineering teams as you strengthen cryptographic capabilities across ASML. You are an important contributor to our enterprise‑wide cryptographic excellence, applying secure‑by‑design principles and helping shape a future‑ready ecosystem that supports ASML’s global mission. In this role, you will:

  • Contribute to the creation and refinement of ASML’s cryptographic policies, standards, and baselines related to encryption, key management, and secure communication
  • Support policy updates ensuring alignment with regulatory frameworks such as NIST, GDPR, CRA, and NIS2, working in close collaboration with senior experts
  • Work as a trusted partner with IT, product, legal, and compliance teams to help integrate cryptographic best practices into systems, services, and architectures
  • Identify weaknesses in cryptographic algorithms, protocols, or implementations and provide well‑reasoned improvement proposals
  • Collaborate with hardware and software engineering teams to embed cryptographic capabilities into product and platform designs, ensuring security is built in from the start
  • Contribute to training and awareness activities that build a shared understanding of cryptographic requirements across ASML
  • Grow your expertise by participating in 2nd‑line activities within the Risk Business Assurance & Security (RBA&S) organization and by supporting senior colleagues in assessments and baseline reviews

Education and Experience

You bring strong foundational expertise and a desire to grow further in a world‑class security organization. You have:

  • Extensive experience in the design, analysis, and implementation of cryptographic algorithms and protocols, including symmetric, asymmetric, hashing, digital signatures, and key exchange primitives
  • Hands-on experience with cryptographic systems for key management (KMS), certification authorities (PKI) and hardware security modules (HSM)
  • Experience working in enterprise security environments and with security operations
  • A Bachelor's degree in Cryptography, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • 4–9 years of security and cryptography experience, demonstrating steady progression and increasing responsibility.
  • Strong familiarity with industry frameworks such as NIST CSF, ISO 27001/2, IEC 62443, NIST SP 800‑30, or ISF SoGP.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CRISC are highly valued.

You may also have:

  • Experience defining or running security baselines or assessment processes.
  • Hands‑on experience implementing or maintaining cryptographic libraries in real‑world systems.
