Mechanical Engineering | Robotics internship: cobot actuator applications
Job Description
Introduction
The Actuator Tooling team at ASML develops solutions for manufacturing high‑precision actuators used in advanced lithography systems. The team continuously improves efficiency, repeatability, and safety in both development and manufacturing environments. In this internship, you will explore how collaborative robots can support actuator prototyping and production activities. Your work will help shape future automation concepts within ASML. This internship is based in Veldhoven.
Your assignment
You will be part of a multidisciplinary team working on the integration of collaborative robots in a high‑precision environment. The focus is on applying robotic assistance to real actuator design and manufacturing challenges. You will work hands‑on with concepts, experiments, and evaluations that support future industrial use.
Your main responsibilities will be:
Gathering requirements from stakeholders regarding safety, performance, and interfaces
Designing concepts for cobot‑supported actuator tasks
Developing and validating a cobot‑enabled application
Evaluating feasibility related to accuracy, cycle time, ergonomics, and risks
Running experiments to verify precision, repeatability, and robustness
Analyzing results and translating findings into clear recommendations
Creating a roadmap toward potential industrialization of the solution
This is a Bachelor or Master internship for minimum 6 months, 5 days per week (3 days on‑site). The start date of this internship is as of September 2026. It is possible to start this internship earlier.
Your profile
To be suitable for the internship, you:
Are enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, systems and control, or industrial automation
Enjoy hands‑on work and exploring robotics in high‑precision environments
Are skilled in mechanical or robotic concept development
Have experience with 3D computer‑aided design software
Are collaborative and comfortable working with diverse technical stakeholders
This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work.
