Job Description
Xona is the navigational intelligence company bringing real-time, centimeter-level certainty to any device, anywhere on Earth.
With Pulsar – the world’s most advanced PNT satellite infrastructure in Low Earth Orbit – Xona will offer a future-proof, backwards-compatible global positioning system optimized for absolute precision, superior power, and robust protection.
As Materials & Inventory Specialist, you will be an integral member of Xona’s Supply Chain organization, supporting R&D, satellite manufacturing, and external contract manufacturing partners. You will help coordinate the flow of flight hardware and electronic components from receiving through inventory, kitting, consignment, production, and shipment.
A key part of this role will be supporting PCBA production by preparing, tracking, and reconciling customer-furnished electronic components consigned to external assembly partners. You will work closely with Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, Production, and contract manufacturers to ensure materials are available, traceable, and delivered where they are needed to support prototype and low-rate production schedules.
Responsibilities
Perform incoming receiving processes for hardware, electronic components, raw materials, and other production materials, including quantity verification, packing-list documentation, three-way match support, and management of partial receipts.
Inspect incoming hardware, components, and raw materials for damage, quantity discrepancies, traceability requirements, and required documentation.
Maintain accurate inventory records for flight hardware and production materials, including serialized, lot-controlled, and revision-controlled inventory.
Coordinate material requirements for PCBA builds with Supply Chain, Engineering, and external assembly partners.
Prepare and issue electronic component kits for PCBA assembly, including verifying part numbers, revisions, quantities, lot/date codes, and traceability documentation against applicable BOMs and build requirements.
Track and reconcile consigned inventory at external suppliers, including material consumption, shortages, excess material, unused components, and material returned following completion of builds.
Kit and issue inventory to internal manufacturing, integration, and test teams in accordance with BOMs, work orders, and production requirements.
Maintain organized and controlled inventory locations in accordance with 5S, ESD, FOD, and other applicable material-handling requirements.
Perform regular cycle counts, investigate inventory discrepancies, and support inventory reconciliation and corrective actions.
Support material configuration changes, nonconforming-material dispositions, and movement of inventory between programs, builds, and storage locations.
Coordinate movement of hardware, assemblies, components, and kits between cleanrooms, warehouse areas, production areas, and external suppliers.
Pack and crate outgoing shipments and prepare associated shipping and material documentation.
Operate motorized lift equipment, pallet jacks, cranes, and lifting fixtures.
Identify opportunities to improve inventory controls, material-flow processes, PCBA consignment processes, and supporting ERP/MRP systems as Xona scales production.
Adhere to applicable safety, quality, ESD, FOD, and configuration-control requirements and contribute to a safe, organized, and collaborative work environment.
Desired Qualifications
2–4 years of materials, inventory, production control, supply chain operations, or related experience in the aviation, space, defense, electronics, or other high-reliability manufacturing industries.
Experience supporting PCBA manufacturing, electronics production, or external contract manufacturers strongly preferred.
Familiarity with electronic component handling, including part numbers, manufacturer part numbers, date/lot codes, moisture-sensitive devices, and ESD-sensitive components.
Experience working from BOMs, work orders, kit lists, and production schedules.
Experience with inventory transactions, cycle counts, material issuance, receiving, and reconciliation.
Experience handling serialized, lot-controlled, revision-controlled, or expiration-controlled materials.
Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and inventory-management software.
Familiarity with Quality Management Systems such as ISO 9001 or AS9100.
Understanding of domestic and international shipping requirements and ability to prepare shipping documentation. Familiarity with HTS codes, ECCN basics, Incoterms, and controlled-item handling is preferred.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy in inventory records, documentation, and material transactions.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple material requirements, builds, and supplier interactions simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate effectively across Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Production, and external manufacturing partners.
Ability to identify material risks, discrepancies, and shortages and drive them to resolution with appropriate stakeholders.
Flexibility and adaptability to evolving program needs, production schedules, and priorities.
Ability to identify opportunities for process improvement and support the scale-up of systems, software, and material-control processes.
Able to manage long durations of standing, grasping, sitting, pulling, and physical bending movements to support various manufacturing and test processes. Must be able to lift at least 40 lbs unassisted.
