Major Duties
The United States Space Force (USSF) at Buckley AFB, CO is searching for an Information System Security Officer (ISSO), MD 4 S2 to support Mission Delta 4 S-Staff (MD4 S2) (NH-2210-03, GS-12/13 equivalent). Ideal Candidate: Serves as an Information Systems Security Officer for Mission Delta 4 S-Staff charged with overseeing information systems security in support of Mission Delta 4 (MD 4) and Space Base Delta 2 (SBD2) missions. The members will take directions from the Special Security Officer (SSO) to provide guidance and oversight for all security matters that affect the Space Force Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) within MD4 and SBD 2 SCIFs. These responsibilities include: (a) implementation of policies for Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and Special Access Program (SAP) security programs; (b) providing consultation and guidance to MD4 and SBD 2 and supported activities affected by such policies; (c) interpreting and implementing SCI security policy; (d) responding to requests and inquiries which require analysis, interpretation and investigation of security vulnerabilities or security incidents; (e) devising effective security countermeasures in consonance with SCI and SAP security management policies and directives; and (e) serving as an AFJWICS Administrator for MD4 and SBD 2. Position will also perform some Information Assurance functions in support of the MD4 S-Staff and the 47th Tactical Intelligence Squadron (47 TIS). Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: (resume must reflect skill set) 1. Knowledge of current and emerging Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems, architectures, and programs within joint and service-level environments. 2. In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including Computer Security (COMPUSEC), Risk Management Framework (RMF), Defense-in-Depth, Vulnerability Management, Incident Response protocols, and continuous monitoring tools. 3. Knowledge of federal, DoD, Department of the Air Force (DAF), and Intelligence Community (IC) security directives, laws, and policies governing Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), National Security Systems (NSS), and Cross Domain Solutions (CDS). 4. Ability to communicate highly technical cybersecurity concepts orally and in writing clearly, concisely, and effectively to both technical staff and senior executive leadership. 5. Ability to analyze and evaluate emerging systems engineering technologies to assess their impact on the operational security posture and identify potential system vulnerabilities. 6. Ability to conduct technical systems analysis and apply industry best practices to engineer, modernize, and secure intelligence information systems. 7. Ability to perform independent security assessments and risk analyses under conditions of ambiguity or incomplete system documentation.
