
Navigation Payload AIV Engineer
Job Description
We are looking for an Satellite Navigation Payload IVVQ Engineer to include in the Engineering Department with the scope of
- support the execution of these exciting programs such as GALILEO, Moonlight, LEO PNT, etc.;
- contribute to the acquisition of new business opportunities;
- foster the Research & Development activities in the satellite navigation domain.
Located in Rome
As a Satellite Navigation Payload Engineering role within Thales, you will:
- Design and development of advanced satellite navigation payloads for space missions
- Ownership and execution of Assembly, Integration, Verification, and Validation (AIVV) activities for navigation payloads
- Definition and implementation of payload integration and test plans, procedures, and environments
- Coordination and management of payload AIVV campaigns, including test setup and troubleshooting
- Participation in technical reviews and reporting of AIVV results to stakeholders
- Analysis and validation of navigation payload architectures and subsystems
- Simulation and performance assessment of payload functionalities, such as signal generation and processing
- Investigation and resolution of technical anomalies during AIVV and operational phases
- Collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams and external partners to ensure successful payload validation
- Contribution to the optimization and innovation of AIVV processes and methodologies
- Preparation of technical documentation, test reports, and support to proposal activities
Moreover, you will:
- Contribute to the growth of the engineering department activities (e.g. acquisition of new contract, definition of the strategy for the evolution of the competences of the department, etc.)
- Contribute to the R&D activities through the proposal and execution of new studies
- Support the interaction with the University, through the definition and the follow-up of thesis, stage, etc.
- Have the opportunity to participate to international meetings and conference held worldwide
Language: fluent English, spoken and written
COMPETENCIES:
- A master’s degree in electronic, telecommunications, computer science, aerospace engineering or equivalent;
- significant proven experience (3 to 5 years) among the following: Analysis and Simulation, Requirement Test, Integration, Verification, Validation
- Knowledge about basic telecommunication principles (propagation error, access schema, modulations, etc.);
- Familiarity with the usage of System Engineering Tools (e.g. Simulation Tools, Matlab, etc.) and laboratory instruments
- Knowledge of Satellite Navigation and/or Communication System, with an experience on the field of at least 5 years;
- Experience with leading engineering projects or activities;
- Capability to adapt and react to change;
- Distinct propensity to team working and problem solving, proactivity and attitude to find innovative solutions.
