Position Summary

Thales is looking for an IT Project Manager, Facilities and Real Estate Specialist to be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of IT projects and initiatives, with a primary focus on Real Estate and Facilities-related efforts, including site openings and closures, renovations, workplace modernization, infrastructure enablement, and smart building technologies.

This role partners closely with internal stakeholders—including Real Estate, Corporate Security, Procurement, and IT functional teams—as well as external partners such as general contractors, subcontractors, telecom providers, and IT vendors to ensure seamless integration of technology into physical working environments.


In this position, while supporting a broader IT project portfolio, you will also be required to have deep experience in facilities-driven programs and serves as a subject matter expert for IT delivery of services in the context of various physical facility use cases including but not limited to new site fit up, renovations, as is moves, carve in and carve outs of business units. Success in this position depends on good working knowledge of site build & IT fit up processes, strong cross-functional coordination, effective vendor management, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects while maintaining alignment with enterprise standards, governance, and financial objectives.

Regulatory Compliance Requirements:

This position requires direct or indirect access to hardware, software or technical information controlled under the Canadian Export Control List, the Canadian Controlled Goods Program, the Canadian Industrial Security Program, the US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the US Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All applicants must be eligible or able to obtain authorization for such access including eligibility to the Canadian Controlled Goods Program and able to obtain a Canadian Enhanced Reliability security clearance.


Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Lead full lifecycle delivery (initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, closure) of IT projects, with emphasis on Real Estate and Facilities initiatives (e.g., site builds, moves, upgrades); elicit & manage IT requirements (includes Business Stakeholder & Corporate IT requirements); define the project’s WBS and IT Work Packages; develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, risk plans, and dependencies for both facilities and non-facilities projects; ensure alignment with enterprise PMO methodologies and governance standards.
  • Serve as the IT lead for site-related initiatives, including office openings, consolidations, and closures; consult with Real Estate on Site Design Layout to ensure IT infrastructure standards are met; coordinate IT infrastructure deployment (network, AV, end-user computing, security systems, IoT/smart building tech) in alignment with construction and facilities timelines; partner with Facilities, Real Estate, Corporate Security, and external contractors to ensure seamless IT readiness at each site.
  • Prepare and deliver IT readiness requirement for IT to execute its work package tasks; prepare and deliver artifacts to support the Real Estate project gating process. This can include cost estimations from multiple IT services, Rough Order of Magnitude estimations of IT cost for budgetary purposes; review architectural diagrams such as low voltage plans; work with IT infrastructure team and Telecom providers to establish site connectivity.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for business stakeholders, Facilities teams, and third-party vendors; manage vendor deliverables, contracts, and performance related to IT build-outs and infrastructure delivery; provide clear and consistent communication to leadership, including status updates, risks, and escalation paths.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial tracking (CapEx/OpEx alignment); provide & support cost estimation for IT activities related to facility initiatives and ensure efficient use of resources; track and report on key project KPIs (schedule adherence, cost variance, delivery quality); identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, particularly those related to physical site dependencies; ensure adherence to IT security, compliance, and regulatory requirements; maintain proper documentation for audits and governance reviews.
  • Contribute to standard playbooks for IT site deployments and facility integrations; drive lessons learned and process improvements across Real Estate-related project delivery; support adoption of standardized tools (e.g., ServiceNow, project portfolio tools, collaboration platforms).

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Engineering, Business, or related field; 8-10+ years of IT project management experience, with a focus on the delivery of IT infrastructure equipment and capabilities to either internal/external stakeholders or customers; demonstrated experience managing Real Estate / Facilities-related IT projects (e.g., office builds, relocations, or major renovations).
  • Working knowledge of IT infrastructure domains (networking, end-user computing, AV, security systems); strong knowledge of project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, or hybrid).
  • Experience managing cross-functional programs involving Facilities, Construction, and IT teams; proven ability to manage budgets, vendors, and multiple concurrent projects.
  • Experience with project management and portfolio tools (e.g., ServiceNow PPM, MS Project, Jira, or equivalent. Primavera is a nice to have); proficiency in collaboration and reporting tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification (or actively pursuing).
  • Ability to travel to site locations as required; strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Special Position Requirements

  • Schedule: Standard hours Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm ET or 9am to 6pm ET but there are times where after hours and/or weekend work is necessary to support critical path real-estate tasks such as final site turn up.
  • Travel: Can be expected up to 20% if there are multiple real estate projects actively being executed. This includes travel to the United States.
