Part of Thales Australia, Australian Munitions is the largest domestic manufacturer of explosive ordnance to the Australian Defence Force, with a successful track record delivering ammunition, propellants, explosives and related services including acid production and industrial waste treatment to Defence and commercial markets.


Working at our sites in Benalla - on Yorta Yorta land, your role purpose is to -


  • Provide advice, leadership and hands on support to implement and maintain the environmental requirements at the Benalla facility.

  • Coordinate and manage environmental work, including performance monitoring, directing field activities, and compiling/interpreting analytical data.

  • Keeping abreast of the extensive range of information and reports in relation to site environmental performance, environmental assessments and historical contamination.

  • Provide support to the HSE Manager and site management in implementing environmental projects associated with cleaner production programs and waste management, including the performance and direction of fieldwork, and the compilation and interpretation of analytical data


On day one in this role, we'll expect you to bring the following skills, experience and behaviours:


  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, or related disciplines

  • Knowledge and understanding of NSW, Victorian and Commonwealth environmental legislation, or similar legislative framework.

  • Background in chemical processes and the environmental impacts resulting from these.

  • Experience with analysis and alignment to environmental legislative requirements and industry best practice.

  • Track record in undertaking investigations, developing technical reports

Good to Know


Prior to being offered employment, you will need to complete pre-employment police and (role dependent) medical checks.


A Defence security clearance is required for this role; applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.

In some cases, individuals who hold a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible to have this clearance recognised by the Australian Government and be eligible for this role.

The Australian Defence Trade Controls Act (DTCA) is applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.

The U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
