As the on-site Health, Safety and Environment Partner, the role is part of an effective and dynamic HSE business partnering team, supporting both Defence and our commercial customers at the Garden Island naval base in Sydney.


In this exciting opportunity, you will drive our “See More, Say More, Solve More” culture and apply your HSE expertise in working in a High-risk environment.


Responsibilities:


  • Leverage standards to deliver measurable HSE performance improvements through robust implementation and improvement plans 

  • Drive compliance by rolling out Thales Australia HSE policies and procedures across the business 

  • Build stronger ownership and capability by coaching leaders and teams to reduce health, safety and environmental risk 

  • Prevent repeat incidents by leading investigations and ensuring corrective actions are implemented and closed 

  • Strengthen audit readiness and regulatory compliance with accurate records, inspections, permits and licences 

  • Accelerate a positive HSE culture through continuous improvement initiatives that drive lasting behaviour change


On day one in this role, we'll expect you to bring the following skills, experience and behaviours:


  • Extensive experience in an HSE business partner or operational role, preferably in a complex, high-risk environment, ideally within an construction, industrial or manufacturing setting

  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in the fields of HSE, management systems and relevant legislation

  • Sound understanding of Injury Management, Workers Compensation and Health Promotion

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in work health and safety, risk management, or related field

  • Availability to work on-site, 5 days a week.

A Defence security clearance is required for this role; applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.

In some cases, individuals who hold a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible to have this clearance recognised by the Australian Government and be eligible for this role.The Australian Defence Trade Controls Act (DTCA) is applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.

The U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR) are applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
