Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Engineer – BSS Solution Design to lead the design and architecture of Business Support System (BSS) solutions that underpin Skylo’s commercial NTN services. You will translate complex business and product requirements into scalable, integration-ready BSS architectures — spanning product catalogue, order management, charging, mediation, partner management, and revenue assurance — working closely with MNO partners, internal engineering teams, and commercial stakeholders.

This is a high-impact role at the intersection of telecom domain expertise, solution architecture, and Skylo’s mission to bring satellite connectivity to every device on earth. The role is based in Bangalore and requires being onsite at least three days a week.

Key Responsibilities

BSS Solution Design & Architecture

• Own end-to-end BSS solution design for new NTN products, services, and partner integrations — from requirements through high-level and detailed design.

• Define solution blueprints spanning product catalogue, order management, mediation, rating, charging (OCS/OFCS), invoicing, CRM, and partner/wholesale settlement.

• Evaluate and select BSS platforms (Amdocs, Ericsson, Nokia, Comviva, Oracle BRM, or equivalent) for fitness against Skylo’s NTN use cases.

• Apply TM Forum frameworks (eTOM, SID, TAM, Open APIs) to ensure interoperability and standards compliance.

• Design for scalability, high availability, and high transaction volumes typical of satellite IoT and consumer NTN services.

System Integration & API Design

• Design integration architectures between BSS components and OSS, NMS, ERP, CRM, payment gateways, and MNO partner systems.

• Define and govern BSS APIs using TM Forum Open API standards and RESTful/event-driven patterns.

• Lead CDR/EDR mediation design and data-flow architecture to ensure accurate usage capture from Skylo’s NTN vRAN.

• Collaborate with platform engineering to implement microservices-based BSS components and event-driven integrations.

• Define data models, entity relationships, and schema designs for billing, product, and subscriber domains.

Requirements & Stakeholder Engagement

• Work with product, commercial, and finance stakeholders to translate pricing models, bundles, and promotions into BSS configuration and design artefacts.

• Support MNO partner onboarding by designing interoperability between Skylo BSS and partner OSS/BSS stacks.

• Produce solution design documents, interface control documents, and gap analyses for internal review and partner sign-off.

• Participate in pre-sales and partner discussions, providing technical authority on BSS solution scope and feasibility.

• Contribute to BSS roadmap planning and architectural decision-making forums.

Delivery, Quality & Leadership

• Oversee BSS solution delivery across design, build, system integration testing (SIT), and UAT phases.

• Establish and enforce BSS design standards, patterns, and best practices across the engineering team.

• Ensure revenue assurance controls, reconciliation processes, and compliance requirements (TRAI, FCC, GDPR) are embedded in solution design.

• Mentor junior engineers and solution analysts; provide technical guidance on BSS domain challenges.

• Drive continuous improvement in BSS solution quality, performance, and operational observability.

What We Look For

• 6–10 years of experience in telecom BSS, with at least 3–4 years in solution design or solution architecture roles.

• Demonstrable experience designing end-to-end BSS solutions across two or more of: product catalogue, order management, charging/billing, mediation, CRM, partner/wholesale management.

• Hands-on exposure to BSS platforms such as Amdocs, Ericsson BSCS/CRM, Nokia/Netcracker, Comviva, Oracle BRM, CSG, or equivalent.

• Strong understanding of TM Forum frameworks: eTOM, SID, TAM, and Open APIs (TMF620, TMF622, TMF632, TMF641, etc.).

• Solid knowledge of CDR/EDR processing, mediation pipelines, real-time and offline charging (OCS/OFCS), and revenue assurance.

• Experience designing APIs and microservices integrations for BSS in RESTful and event-driven (Kafka, messaging) architectures.

• Proficiency in at least one backend language (Java, Go, Python) sufficient to review and guide implementation.

• Solid experience with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL) and data modelling for BSS domains.

• Familiarity with roaming, interconnect, and wholesale settlement processes.

• Strong documentation skills: solution design documents, interface specifications, HLDs, LLDs.

Nice to Have

• Experience with NTN, satellite, or MVNO BSS — understanding of how non-terrestrial services layer onto MNO BSS stacks.

• Knowledge of 5G core charging architecture (CHF, PCF, NWDAF) and its BSS implications.

• Exposure to cloud-native BSS deployments on AWS, GCP, or Azure.

• Experience with usage-based or consumption billing at scale for IoT/M2M services.

• TM Forum Frameworx certification or equivalent BSS/OSS industry certification.

• Familiarity with 3GPP NTN standards (Release 17/18) and their commercial implications for BSS.

• Experience with wholesale BSS — designing or operating wholesale billing, settlement, and partner management solutions for carrier-to-carrier or MNO-to-MVNO commercial models.

• Exposure to Data Clearing House (DCH) and Financial Clearing House (FCH) processes — including TAP/RAP file handling, roaming data exchange, and inter-operator financial settlement.
