Job Description
NYC · Full-Time · Early Team
About
Simbie AI automates the 1.5–2 hours of clinical judgment work physicians do outside visits — labs, patient calls, refills, post-op check-ins, pre-visit intake. We're the first platform executing AI workflows requiring real clinical judgment, embedded directly in EHRs.
YC-backed, distribution proven. Now we need engineers who can take our AI agents from handshake to production with every new customer - at the speed we’re signing (too fast to keep up!)
The Role
You're the technical owner of customer deployments — from scoping through go-live and beyond. You'll work alongside the Onboarding & Customer Success team who own the relationship, while you own the build: integrations, custom workflows, and making agents actually work in the wild.
This isn't a support role. You'll ship production code, debug live integrations, and shape the product from what you learn in the field. You'll be the bridge between our platform and the complexity of real health systems. The ideal candidate is a self-directed production engineer who thrives on direct customer interaction. You've shipped integrations in complex environments, can shift between deep technical work and explaining it to non-technical people, and are genuinely motivated by the healthcare mission.
This is not a support engineer role. It's an engineer who happens to work closely with customers — the best of both worlds for someone who wants technical depth AND customer impact.
What You'll Do
Own customer deployments end-to-end
- Lead technical scoping, build, and go-live for medical practice implementations
- Configure and deploy production AI agents tailored to each customer's specialty, workflows, and patient population
- Build EHR integrations across FHIR and HL7 interfaces
- Launch agents that handle thousands of real patient interactions daily
Solve gnarly integration problems
- Debug live issues across phone systems, EHRs, scheduling platforms, and patient engagement tools
- Architect solutions for healthcare's real complexity — insurance verification, appointment rules, clinical protocols
- Build tooling and automation that makes every future deployment faster and more reliable
- Optimize agent performance in production using real-world data and customer feedback
Shape the product from the field
- Partner directly with Product Engineering to influence platform direction based on what you learn on the ground
- Identify patterns across implementations that become repeatable product features
- Work with Sales to scope technical requirements and demo capabilities to prospects
- Be the voice of the customer — you see what works, what doesn't, and what's actually needed
What We're Looking For
Required
- 3+ years of software engineering with a track record of shipping production code
- Proficiency in Python; comfortable reading and writing across the stack
- Strong experience with APIs, third-party integrations, and working across multiple systems
- Excellent communication — you can explain a gnarly integration issue to a physician or an ops director
- Comfortable with ambiguity; you build forward when the path isn't clear
- Scrappy and resourceful — you find a way, not an excuse
- Genuine interest in healthcare and improving patient access
Nice additions
- Experience with EHR systems or practice management platforms
- Familiarity with FHIR, HL7, or healthcare data standards
- Previous customer-facing engineering, solutions engineering, or implementation work
- Background in AI/LLM applications or agent development
- Familiarity with voice/telephony systems (Twilio, etc.)
- Experience working with enterprise or regulated-industry customers
What We Offer
- Competitive salary + early-team equity
- Real technical ownership — not ticket work
- Agents you deploy touch thousands of patients, improve patient care and outcomes, and shape how medicine is practiced today
- Small, high-trust team; latest AI tooling and compute
We've done the hardest thing in healthcare: proven distribution. You'll be the person who makes the product real for every customer we bring on — and who helps us build the deployment machine that scales with the company.
