About the Role

As a Structural Analysis Engineer III at Sierra Space, you will leverage your expertise and experience to solve wide-ranging and complex technical problems related to the design, analysis, and development of structural systems. You will work under general direction, independently developing and implementing solutions that are imaginative, thorough, practical, and aligned with organizational objectives. As a Responsible Engineer (RE), you will own discrete technical packages and provide guidance to less experienced engineers. Your role will involve collaborating across all technical disciplines and engaging in frequent external communication related to routine business.

In this role, you will perform and contribute to the design and analysis of structural systems, leveraging a strong understanding of structural analysis techniques such as hand calculations and Finite Element Analysis. You will fully understand and apply technical principles, standards, theories, and concepts, while utilizing general knowledge of related disciplines to enhance project outcomes. Developing and providing innovative solutions to wide-ranging technical problems related to structural integrity will be a key aspect of your responsibilities. Working under general direction, you will independently determine and develop approaches to solutions, ensuring technical excellence. You will collaborate effectively across all technical disciplines to ensure project integration and coherence, while providing guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers to foster their development. Additionally, you will frequently communicate with both external and internal parties regarding routine business and technical matters, ensuring alignment and successful project execution.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent work experience in lieu of degree or Masters +3 yrs experience).
  • Typically 5+ years of related experience.
  • Expertise in structural analysis and general knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Complete understanding and application of technical principles, standards, theories, and concepts.
  • Ability to provide solutions to wide-ranging technical problems that are imaginative, thorough, practical, and consistent with organizational objectives.
  • Experience managing discrete technical packages as a Responsible Engineer (RE).
  • Capability to work under general direction to independently determine and develop approaches to solutions.
  • Ability to work across all technical disciplines.
  • TS/SCI Clearance required

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Advanced proficiency with structural analysis and design software (e.g., Nastran, Femap, Ansys).
  • Strong familiarity with industry standards and best practices (e.g., ASME, ASTM, AISC).
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB, C++) for custom analysis methods.
  • Knowledge of material properties and behavior in aerospace applications, including metallics, composites, and bonded joints.
  • Experience with standard fatigue and fracture analysis methods and software (e.g., NASGRO, AFGROW).

Compensation:


Pay Range:

$110,664.00 - $152,184.00

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness.


IMPORTANT NOTICE:

This position requires current/active Top Secret with SCI eligibility U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.  The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants. Adjudicative factors which affect the outcome of the eligibility determination include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and illegal drug use.
