Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector, needs aspiring Systems Engineering Leaders to support it’s rapidly growing space vehicle design and production programs within the space superiority and warfighting division working on large spaced based systems, where NG builds and integrates the missions important to national security. This position can be filled in either Dulles, VA or Gilbert, AZ. This position is 100% on site and does not support remote work.

The Deputy Lead Systems Engineer is responsible for assisting in leading the space segment technical team, which may include:

• Supporting systems analyses and trades
• Helping to coordinate space segment engineering activities through engineering baseline management, interface management and requirements/V&V management
• The opportunity to take on stretch assignments such as supporting integration & test campaign development and execution, subcontractor technical oversight, cost account management and preparing and presenting SE material for major program reviews.

In this role, the Deputy Lead Systems Engineer is expected to be self-directed using previous experience in design, analysis and execution efforts and to advise more junior level staff on the execution of the systems engineering statement of work for the program with mentorship and guidance from the Lead systems engineer and chief engineer.

This position can be filled at level 3 or level 4.

Basic Qualifications:

• Principal Engineer Level 3 - B.S. in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related area and 5 years of experience; M.S. in STEM or related area and 3 years of experience.
• Senior Principal Engineer Level 4 - B.S. in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related area and 8 years of experience; M.S. in STEM or related area and 6 years of experience
• Must have active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI clearance at time of application
• Technical experience in systems engineering and integration of complex systems
• Excellent written and oral communications skills and technical presentation experience
• Understanding of spacecraft detailed design, integration & test
• Must be Proactive. Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions

Preferred Qualifications:

• Ability to lead a diverse multi-discipline Engineering team
• Experience with fast paced production programs across the product life cycle
• Experience with space vehicle hardware and/or software
• Existing SCI and/or Program Access

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
