Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking an Associate Technical Editor and Writer to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals in El Segundo, CA. This position is fully onsite; remote work is not available.


The selected candidate will be part of Northrop Grumman's Product Support Engineering organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Writes and/or edits documents such as programming/service/user manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to effectively communicate to a wide range of audiences.

  • Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, and referring to source data in the form of technical specifications and blueprints.

  • Prepares and submits technical illustration requests by selecting from available engineering drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts. Conducts quality review of illustrations generated.

  • Communicates assignment progress to colleagues and leadership on a regular basis. Requests assistance from teammates when necessary to complete work within cost/quality/schedule requirements.

  • Knowledge, Skills, and Ability - General knowledge of application of Technical Data principles, concepts, practices, and standards. Some knowledge of industry practices. Independently demonstrates the skill and ability to perform professional tasks.

  • Problem Solving - Develops solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. May refer to established precedents and policies.

  • Discretion/Latitude - Works under only very general supervision. Work is reviewed for soundness of judgment and overall adequacy and accuracy.

  • Impact - Contributes to the completion of projects and goals of the organization. Errors in judgment or failure to achieve results would normally be detected in supervisory oversight.

  • Liaison - Frequent internal company contacts. Contacts are primarily with immediate supervisor, and other personnel in the section or group. May develop and deliver presentations to small groups.

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 0 years of experience

  • Independently demonstrates the skill and ability to perform professional tasks.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active U.S. Government Secret clearance

  • 3 years related work experience


Primary Level Salary Range: $57,300.00 - $85,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
