Job Description

About the role

Muon seeks a Software Engineer to join our Mission Frontend team. In this role you will build and ship features across our Mission Command platform, the consolidated frontend for mission operations, customer-facing tools, and internal workflows. You'll work in a modern TypeScript monorepo (dash-remix) and contribute to establishing this platform as the canonical interface for managing constellations, scheduling contacts, and monitoring tasking at scale. Day to day, you'll own features end-to-end; from design through deployment and post-launch operational health, collaborating closely with the team on technical design, and shared foundations. You'll also be part of a team that treats AI-assisted coding tools (Claude Code, Copilot, and similar) as a core part of the workflow, applying the same rigor to AI-generated output as to human-authored code. This is a high-impact role delivering reliable, high-performance, and accessible experiences that satellite operators and customers depend on every day.

This position is hybrid and requires working on-site in our San Jose, CA office three days per week.

Responsibilities

  • Build and ship features across Muon Space's unified web platform, delivering reliable, high-performance, and accessible experiences for satellite operators, customers, and internal users.
  • Own features end-to-end, from design and implementation through deployment, with appropriate test coverage, documentation, and post-launch monitoring.
  • Participate actively in code reviews and technical design discussions, contributing informed perspectives and helping raise the quality bar across the team.
  • Collaborate across backend and product teams to define requirements as needed.
  • Support operational health of the features you ship, responding to issues surfaced through observability tooling and iterating to improve reliability and performance.
  • Grow into an autonomous, trusted contributor who consistently ships high-quality work and helps establish the unified web platform as the canonical interface for Muon's mission and operational needs.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong problem solving mindset with a focus on the end user while considering long term outcomes.
  • 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally with strongly-typed frontend languages such as TypeScript or Flow.
  • A passion for semantically correct, stable, clean code.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to complex web applications.
  • Experience working in codebases with automated CI/CD pipelines and static analysis enforcement.
  • Proficiency in code revision management within larger, fast-moving teams.

Nice-to-have Skills

  • Experience with AI assisted / agentic coding tools such as Codex or Claude Code.
  • Experience working with SSR (server-side rendering), RSC (React server components), and isomorphic code.
  • Experience working with 3d applications.
  • Experience working with interactive mapping and/or geospatial data visualization.
  • Experiencing working with large, cross-team monorepos.
  • Experience with accessibility-focused component libraries such as React Aria or Radix UI.
  • Experience with frontend observability tooling (e.g., Grafana Faro, OpenTelemetry, Sentry).
  • Have had exposure to the aerospace/space industry, satellite operations concepts, or mission-critical software environments.
  • Experience authoring or maintaining CI/CD workflows (e.g., GitHub Actions), containerized build/deploy pipelines (Docker, Helm), or automated dependency management tooling (e.g., Renovate, Dependabot).

Salary

The salary range for this role is $156,000 - $186,000.  plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location as assessed during the interview process.
