Job Description
About the role
Muon Space is hiring a Senior Product Manager to own the strategy, roadmap, and delivery of our internal Information Systems. You will be responsible for designing and managing various internal software and tools, integrating with industry-leading commercial solutions, and defining the entire Information Systems product lineup and roadmap.
Our proprietary systems and enterprise architecture are what enable us to manage our supply chain, manufacturing, financial operations, and mission execution. You will lead the charge on scaling critical business systems to keep pace with our rapidly expanding launch manifest.
The work requires a balance of strategic thinking and tactical execution—identifying where Muon Space can gain a strategic advantage through custom-built software and where we should seamlessly integrate with best-in-class third-party platforms. You will act as the bridge between technical software teams and business operations, putting your fingerprints on the operational foundation of the company.
This position is hybrid and requires working on-site in our San Jose, CA office three days per week.
Responsibilities
- Product Strategy & Roadmap: Own the end-to-end product strategy, vision, and 12-18 month roadmap for Muon Space’s Information Systems and internal tools.
- Build vs. Buy: Drive critical "build vs. buy" decisions by synthesizing business needs, technical constraints, and user experience goals; balance the appropriate mix of industry-leading commercial software (e.g., ERP, PLM, MES) and custom-built internal solutions.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Collaborate closely with cross-functional stakeholders spanning Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Finance, and Mission Operations to identify pain points, prioritize business needs, and deliver solutions with the highest ROI.
- Requirements & Execution: Translate complex operational requirements into clear product specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria to guide internal software development and system integration.
- Cross-functional Coordination: Partner seamlessly with Information Systems software engineers, analysts, and IT teams to design, develop, and deploy meaningful, high-quality solutions, ensuring agile execution and timely delivery.
- Impact & Analytics: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to analyze the impact, user adoption, and operational efficiency of internal tools; continuously improve systems based on user feedback and data-driven insights.
- Integration & Architecture: Coordinate system integrations across platforms to ensure smooth data flows, regulatory compliance, and a unified enterprise architecture stack.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field; or equivalent practical experience.
- 7+ years of Product Management experience, with a proven track record of shipping internal tools, enterprise software, or business systems in a high-growth or technically complex environment.
- Previous experience operating within the aerospace, space, defense, or deep-tech hardware manufacturing industries.
- Demonstrated success leading "build vs. buy" evaluations, implementing commercial SaaS platforms, and integrating them with custom-built software via modern API frameworks.
- Strong technical fluency to engage with software engineers, database architects, and IT leadership as a peer.
- Proven ability to intake diverse stakeholder requirements, manage conflicting priorities without direct authority, and relentlessly prioritize roadmaps.
- Experience mapping out complex operational workflows and translating them into streamlined software experiences.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Excited to work in a fast-paced environment with new challenges each week
Nice-to-have Skills
- Technical background with hands-on experience in software development, SQL, data modeling, or enterprise system architecture.
- Proven success in a high-growth startup environment
