This position will sit in our Environmental Test Lab in Leander, TX.
SUMMARY
We are looking for an Environmental Test Technician III to join the Environmental Test Lab as part of the Advanced Materials department at Firefly Aerospace. You will apply your skill of utilizing thermal chambers, vibration tables, shock tables, and thermal-vacuum chambers to support design, manufacturing, and testing activities by the company.
The candidate must be a self-starter who works well in a team environment and has excellent interpersonal skills. The candidate will form an integral part of a team of engineers and technicians that will be a focal point for the company. The candidate will be expected to learn the testing processes, apply their knowledge, maintain good record-keeping, and have good working relationships with team members.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide technical support for running test equipment in the Environmental Test Lab, not limited to thermal chambers, vibration tables, shock tables, and thermal vacuum chambers
Have expertise in running multiple environmental test laboratory areas (thermal, thermal vacuum, shock, vibration)
Provide training for new hires to the environmental test lab on running the equipment
Set up and tear down of test equipment for each test
Ensure that all work performed is properly and completely documented in preparation for QA inspection
Read and interpret test procedures, process controls, schematics, wiring diagrams, specifications, drawings, manuals, blueprints, and engineering sketches
Provide feedback to Engineering on quality, discrepancy identification and process and design improvements
Comply with the company FOD program, tool control program, 5-S program, and all safety regulations
Self-monitor work progress against area benchmarks and achieve on time delivery of all work
Collaborate with test engineers to troubleshoot failures and issues derived from test data
Perform other related duties, as assigned, for ensuring an efficient and effective work environment
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
Strong hands on testing experience (dynamic and thermal environments) in an environmental test lab or college lab.
Training and/or experience in basic operation of an oscilloscope & multimeter, soldering wires & connectors, wire stripping, ohm’s law, continuity testing, drilling & tapping holes, torque wrenches, DC power supplies, tape measures
Software/Computer Skills including Windows Operating Systems, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook.)
Ability to stand on feet for extended periods of time, lift 10-20 pounds regularly and 50-100 pounds occasionally
Desired
A.S. in Metrology, Instrumentation, Physics, Math, Engineering, Technology or other STEM related fields
Previous experience with a related industry utilizing MIL-STD-810G, SMC-S-016 or similar
Knowledge of one or more high-level general-purpose programming languages including but not limited to LabVIEW and Python
Experience building test racks and rack enclosures
