Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS), Security, Space, Intelligence & Weapons Systems (SI&WS) has an exciting opportunity for an innovative, highly motivated, people focused, and growth motivated Manufacturing Industrial Engineer, Associate or Mid-Career to join our Experimental Systems Group (ESG).  ESG supports a variety of government customers spanning technology domains, and is a fast-paced, responsive development environment delivering new capabilities to customers rapidly and affordably. The ESG portfolio consists of a range of platforms and technologies including the X-37B, the world’s first fully autonomous reusable spaceplane, which recently launched on its 8th mission.  This position is 100% onsite at Kennedy Space Center, FL.

The ideal candidate will utilize manufacturing operations knowledge and business acumen to partner with cross functional teams from production operations, engineering, quality, supplier management, materials management, and program management to achieve organizational business goals and objectives.

At Boeing, our Industrial Engineers are leaders in innovation, development, evaluation, and implementation of methods and systems in support of complex manufacturing processes.  In this position, you will be responsible for the following tasks:

Position Responsibilities:

• Applies Industrial Engineering concepts, techniques, analysis and decision tools to promote and assist in implementing changes in manufacturing, engineering and service operations.
• Develops and maintains complex business system factory definition to be used for manufacturing planning.
• Develops models, databases and spreadsheets to analyze data (e.g., statistics, operations research, engineering economics), and provides summary analysis and metrics for consultation to customers (e.g., management, departments, suppliers and customer).
• Applies general Industrial Engineering techniques and concepts to product and process design and manufacturing teams throughout all phases of product lifecycle, resulting in a robust product design and work statement that meets program requirements.
• Leads in research, design, development, improvement and implementation of processes to enhance schedule performance, lower cost, and improve quality, through the application of Lean and other Industrial Engineering concepts for large scale systems integration and asset utilization.
• Manages, defines, negotiates, and controls the scope, cost, and timing of projects, and performs risk analysis using project management tools (e.g., work break-down structure, precedence network, resource allocation).
• Provides support to project completion.
• Utilizes engineering methods (e.g., mathematical models, simulation, statistics) to support the development of optimal process designs and efficient utilization of resources (e.g., facilities, personnel, materials, equipment) in the creation and validation of products.
• Under general direction, analyzes and designs value stream, including capability, capacity (e.g., make/buy, supplier selection, risk analysis, supplier performance), throughput, work flow and logistics (e.g., critical path, lead-time, transportation, factory layout).
• Partnering with other organizations in the evaluation and refinement of program goals, business objectives, decision support needs, and both the data and performance requirements to meet program/project level objectives.

 

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  (Primarily 1st shift, 2nd shift or split shift support may be required based on program requirements)

This worksite participates in Boeing’s 9/80 schedule rotation. 9/80 is a rotation in which employees can work 9 hour shifts, 8 days per pay period (bi-weekly) and receive every other Friday off.

 

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.  An interim U.S. Top Secret Clearance/SCI Pre-Start and final U.S. Top Secret Clearance/SCI Post-Start is required.

  

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
• Level 2: Typically, 2 or more years' related work experience
• Ability to work 2nd or split shift

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

• Active Top Secret Clearance
• Level 3: Typically, 5 or more years' related work experience
• Experience with the industrial engineering software package Aurora
• Understanding of Industrial Engineering tools and how they integrate into shop systems.
• Ability to successfully work well and communicate with others in a cross functional team.
• Experience developing IE functional processes, standards or tools
• Experience with production systems such as Manufacturing Execution System (MES), Teamcenter Product Data Management (PDM), and Unigraphics (UG)

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.  

Level 2 Summary pay range: $ 83,300 – $ 112,700

Level 3 Summary pay range: $ 100,300 – $ 135,700
