Job Summary:

As a Spacecraft Structures Engineer, you will be responsible for working on the structural analysis of space vehicles and their associated mechanical equipment. The parts and systems you may work on will range from spacecraft primary and secondary structure, to ground support equipment, to pointing mechanisms and deployable structures. Your analysis will ensure that our space vehicles survive their complete development and operational lifecycles, including prototyping, test, transport, launch, and long-term operations.


This position’s internal job code is Structural Analysis Engineer. Our team is currently hiring for levels 1-2.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural analysis on high-performing satellite systems, including modal, static, loads generation, acceleration predictions, and stress analysis

  • Develop high fidelity structural models to predict both system responses and local environments within the system structure with oversight from other engineers

  • Support space vehicle design, configuration, layout, and mass properties analysis

  • Identify materials, processes, and facilities support necessary to deliver a qualified spacecraft structure

  • Work to subsystem schedule and deliverables

  • Support structural qualification testing on spacecraft systems and components including test design, test conduct, data reduction, analysis, and reporting

  • Develop and document required design and analysis processes

  • Review part and assembly drawings

  • Other duties as assigned


This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed locations.


Basic Requirements: (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)

  • Experience in finite elements modeling in FEMAP/NASTRAN, or other FEA software packages (e.g. Abaqus, Ansys, Optistruct, etc.)

  • Familiarity with environmental testing concepts, including modal characterization, acoustic vibration, random vibration, and sine vibration

  • Experience analyzing designs to meet design requirements and safety margins for static, dynamic, thermal, and fatigue loads

  • Experience with SolidWorks or equivalent 3D CAD modeling software

  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required


Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of experience with mechanical design and manufacturing processes

  • Familiarity with mechanical design of spacecraft, e.g. materials, environments, and manufacturing processes

  • Familiarity with fatigue, crack growth, and/or mechanisms analysis

  • Clear communication and organizational skills

  • Active TS/SCI Clearance

Summary Pay Range:

  • Level 1: $63,000 - $113,000

  • Level 2: $75,000 - $134,000

Additionally, applicants must be willing to apply for and maintain a security clearance.
