This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As a Senior Technician, the successful candidate will work hands-on in a development manufacturing facility, leading and executing assembly, material preparation, kitting, and manufacturing operations while mentoring junior technicians. This is a hands-on role where you will apply your expertise across multiple manufacturing disciplines including mechanical assembly, electrical assembly, wiring and harness build-up, machining, welding, and post-processing. You will serve as a go-to resource on the shop floor, setting the standard for quality and safety in an early-phase environment where no two days look the same, and a willingness to jump in and contribute wherever needed is essential.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading and performing mechanical assembly, sub-assembly builds, and hardware preparation tasks, and providing guidance to junior technicians
  • Performing electrical and wiring tasks such as routing wire, building harnesses, crimping connectors, and continuity checking per wiring diagrams and schematics
  • Overseeing material preparation, including kitting parts per the bill of materials, staging hardware at work cells, and verifying material identification and traceability
  • Executing manufacturing operations such as deburring, cleaning, surface preparation, fastening, and torquing to specification
  • Performing fit-up and tack welding preparation, including pipe cutting, beveling, grinding, and fixture loading
  • Operating shop equipment such as band saws, drill presses, grinders, and hand tools following established procedures
  • Following and helping refine work instructions, wiring diagrams, and process documentation; recording completed steps and in-process data as required
  • Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area; adhering to and enforcing all PPE requirements, safety protocols, and housekeeping standards
  • Supporting receiving and inventory tasks, including unpacking deliveries, verifying packing slips, and stocking materials in designated locations
  • Leading equipment setup and work cell preparation, including moving fixtures, staging tooling, and assisting with equipment installation activities
  • Identifying, troubleshooting, and reporting quality concerns, safety hazards, or material discrepancies, and driving them to resolution
  • Mentoring and training junior technicians on tools, processes, and best practices

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 8+ years of experience in manufacturing, fabrication, automotive, electronics, construction, or related hands-on trade; vocational training or technical school coursework counts toward experience
  • Demonstrated ability to read and follow written work instructions, engineering drawings, and wiring diagrams/schematics with minimal supervision
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and shop equipment
  • Proven ability to work across multiple manufacturing disciplines and lead tasks in different production areas
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods in a shop floor environment
  • Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and leadership skills; able to guide others, report issues, and work effectively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Vocational or technical school training in manufacturing, automotive technology, electronics, welding, machining, or a related trade
  • Extensive experience in automotive manufacturing/repair, electronics assembly, or precision industrial manufacturing
  • Automotive background such as engine/powertrain assembly, chassis and drivetrain work, or automotive electrical/diagnostic experience
  • Advanced experience reading and working from electrical schematics and wiring diagrams; harness build-up, connector termination, or soldering
  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, height gauges, and bore gauges
  • Proficiency with electrical test equipment such as multimeters and continuity testers
  • Forklift certification or experience with material handling equipment (overhead cranes, pallet jacks)
  • Computer skills for entering data into shop floor systems
  • Experience with 5S or lean workplace practices
  • First aid, CPR, or OSHA 10/30 certification
  • Prior experience mentoring or leading junior technicians
  • Flexible to work varied shifts or overtime as the production schedule requires

  • Required for Certain Job Profiles: Drivers who operate Commercial Motor Vehicles with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW), Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) or combination of power unit and trailer that meets or exceeds 10,001 lbs. and/or transports placardable amounts of hazardous materials by ground in any vehicle on a public road while in commerce, may be subject to additional Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations including: Driver Qualification Files, Medical Certification (obtained before onboarding), Road Test, Hours of Service, Drug and Alcohol Testing, vehicle inspection requirements, CDL requirements (if applicable) and hazardous materials transportation/shipping training.
  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
