This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Provides tactical and technical support to Engineering/Production/Manufacturing by performing activities such as design, test, check-out, modification, fabrication, and assembly of prototype electro/mechanical systems, experimental design circuitry, laser/light transmission devices or specialized test equipment. Applications may include electronic circuits, photonics and logic systems. Works from schematics, diagrams, written and verbal descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform testing, checkout and trouble-shooting functions. Performs operational test and fault isolation on systems and equipment. Assists in determining methods or actions to remedy malfunctions. Assists in the design, construction, test and check-out of test equipment. Uses manufacturing, test, development or diagnostic equipment, including, but not limited to, test programs, oscilloscopes, signal generators and specialized test apparatus.


We are seeking a skilled Technician in Chemical Corrosion Processing who will leverage advanced technical expertise and leadership to ensure safe and efficient human spaceflight. This role involves setting up production areas, leading rigging and movement of large parts, performing advanced titrations and chemical additions, maintaining and adjusting chemical baths using data-driven methods, and spearheading troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives to support our mission of safe space exploration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Chemical Processing: Perform and oversee corrosion control on aerospace components using processes such as etching, deox, anodization, and alodine conversion per specifications; qualify baths and line conditions; resolve complex processing issues to ensure repeatable, high-quality results.

  • Equipment Operation: Safely operate, monitor, and troubleshoot tank lines and support systems used for chemical cleaning, etching, and coating of parts; ensure systems are within specification and coordinate preventive maintenance and calibrations to maintain capability.

  • Handling & Transport: Lead safe use of overhead cranes, hoists, and rigging equipment to handle large aerospace hardware throughout the chemical processing facility; create or execute basic lift plans and coach others on best practices.

  • Quality Control: Conduct and oversee visual inspections to verify parts meet quality standards before and after processing; ensure accurate completion of travelers, logs, and records; support audits and continuous improvement of quality procedures.

  • Process Monitoring: Perform and oversee chemical titrations and other analytical methods; calculate and execute chemical additions; maintain process control charts and initiate corrective actions for out-of-spec or out-of-control conditions.

  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to and champion all environmental, health, and safety regulations, including proper handling, labeling, reporting, and disposal of hazardous materials; maintain a clean, organized work environment aligned with 5S, FOD, and EHS standards; coordinate with EHS on chemical storage and waste handling.

  • Maintenance: Lead routine and preventive maintenance on pumps, tanks, and related equipment; identify reliability risks and drive troubleshooting and corrective actions to minimize downtime.

  • Team Collaboration: Work alongside engineers, managers, and fellow technicians to troubleshoot issues and optimize chemical processing operations; act as a primary point of contact for process improvements and provide technical guidance and mentorship to Level I/II technicians.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) with at least 6 years of experience in manufacturing or a related environment, including 4 years in chemical processing.

  • Previous experience with corrosion control in aerospace, medical, or other precision industries.

  • Experience performing chemical analysis (titrations and related methods), calculating/performing chemical additions, and maintaining process control within specification.

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications accurately and work to controlled procedures in a regulated environment.

  • Hands-on experience operating and monitoring tank lines and overhead lifting equipment for chemical processing; strong understanding of rigging fundamentals and load path safety.

  • Experience performing routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting on pumps, tanks, and related equipment to ensure proper functionality.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and comfortable working at heights (work stands, ladders, lifts) and/or in confined spaces.

  • Proficiency in digital tools, including Windows and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Demonstrated experience in technical guidance and mentorship of junior technicians.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Industry certification, trade school training and/or degree in a related field.

  • Proficiency in corrosion control methods such as etching, deox, and alodine conversion; experience with anodization and chromate conversion.

  • Advanced skills in performing chemical titration and other analytical methods to maintain and adjust chemical bath solutions for optimal processing conditions; experience maintaining SPC/process control charts.

  • Experience leading predictive and preventive maintenance strategies for chemical processing equipment, including pumps, tanks, and filtration systems, to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency.

  • Proficiency in the operation of overhead cranes and rigging equipment; certifications in hazardous materials handling and/or forklift/crane operations.

  • Comprehensive understanding of EHS protocols and best practices, with a proven ability to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with chemical processing activities; experience coordinating with EHS on chemical storage and waste disposal.

  • Experience implementing and improving quality assurance procedures, including the ability to analyze process data, identify deviations, and recommend/implement corrective actions.

  • Strong technical and leadership skills with a keen attention to detail; proven ability to mentor and train technicians and contribute to standard work and procedures.

  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across teams to foster a positive work environment.

  • Continuous improvement mindset and curiosity for optimizing processes, driving innovation; Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.

  • Experience working on aerospace payloads, fairings, capsules.

  • Willingness to work overtime.

  • Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
