Job Summary
As a Systems Engineer II focused on a Vehicle Digital Twin, you will be at the forefront of developing a connected, data-driven representation of our vehicle using NVIDIA Omniverse. In this hands-on role, you will connect system architecture, requirements, CAD geometry, analysis models, test evidence, and operational data into a single, traceable digital thread. This position uniquely combines systems engineering fundamentals with software automation, model integration, and the practical application of advanced artificial intelligence tools.
You will own scoped integrations and work products, partnering with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate is comfortable moving between system models, 3D/CAD data, code, and engineering evidence, with a talent for turning ambiguous needs into testable and maintainable solutions.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Develop and maintain Blue Origin Aerobrake Digital Twin capabilities in NVIDIA Omniverse, including data-driven 3D scenes, engineering metadata, behaviors, and reusable integration components.
- Build and improve OpenUSD-based workflows that ingest and organize PTC Creo or other CAD geometry while preserving configuration, provenance, coordinate systems, and product-structure metadata.
- Connect Dassault Systèmes Cameo and Teamwork Cloud system models to the Digital Twin, ensuring requirements, interfaces, functions, verification evidence, and design decisions remain traceable to authoritative sources.
- Develop Python-based APIs, connectors, and data pipelines that link analysis, simulation, test, telemetry, and engineering repositories to the Digital Twin.
- Support the correlation of digital models with physical test data by defining acceptance criteria, investigating model-to-test differences, and documenting assumptions, limitations, and uncertainty.
- Utilize advanced AI-assisted engineering and software-development tools (e.g., Codex, Claude Code, or equivalent) to accelerate integration, automation, and documentation, while independently verifying outputs and maintaining configuration control.
- Apply systems engineering fundamentals to decompose needs, define interfaces and data contracts, manage technical risks, and plan verification and validation for Digital Twin capabilities.
- Collaborate with guidance, navigation, and control; structures; thermal; avionics; software; test; manufacturing; and mission operations teams to deliver useful Digital Twin workflows.
- Participate in agile planning, demonstrations, technical reviews, and retrospectives; communicate progress, tradeoffs, and blockers clearly to all stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- 2+ years of relevant professional experience in systems engineering, digital engineering, digital twins, simulation, or software integration. An advanced degree may be considered in lieu of experience.
- Hands-on experience with Dassault Systèmes Cameo or MagicDraw and Teamwork Cloud to develop, manage, or review system models in a collaborative environment.
- Experience using PTC Creo or another production CAD tool and working with engineering geometry, assemblies, and coordinate systems.
- Programming or automation experience (preferably Python), including version control, debugging, and integration with APIs or structured engineering data.
- Demonstrated practical use of advanced AI-assisted engineering or coding tools (e.g., Codex, Claude Code, or equivalent), with strong judgment for validating generated content.
- Working knowledge of digital thread concepts and systems engineering fundamentals, including requirements, interfaces, traceability, configuration management, and V&V.
- Ability to work effectively across disciplines, communicate technical information clearly, and execute scoped work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with NVIDIA Omniverse, Omniverse Kit, OpenUSD, or real-time 3D simulation and visualization workflows.
- Experience building or operating a digital twin that links authoritative product definitions with simulation, test, or operational data.
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink, ANSYS, computational fluid dynamics, 6-DOF simulation, or hardware/software-in-the-loop test environments.
- Familiarity with GitLab, CI/CD, containers, cloud platforms, databases, or event-driven data pipelines.
- Experience developing aerospace vehicles or other complex, safety-critical products through their full lifecycle (design, integration, test, and operations).
- Master's degree or PhD in a relevant engineering or technical field.
- Active SECRET clearance or the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
Special Mentions
- Relocation provided
- Travel expected up to 15% of the time
- Interviews will include a technical assessment
