Job Description

Application close date:

Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

Blue Origin is pioneering the future of space-based communications with TeraWave, a revolutionary satellite communications network designed to deliver symmetrical data speeds of up to 6 Tbps anywhere on Earth. This multi-orbit constellation will consist of optically interconnected satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO) and medium Earth orbit (MEO), providing enterprise-grade connectivity for critical operations worldwide.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Design, develop, and integrate EGSE hardware and software to support satellite assembly, integration, and test across all phases of production
  • Define EGSE architecture and interface requirements in coordination with systems, avionics, RF, payload, and flight software teams
  • Develop and maintain automated test sequences and scripts to support high-volume, repeatable satellite production workflows
  • Execute and support RF test campaigns on phased array antenna systems — characterizing beam steering, EIRP, gain patterns, and link performance using VNAs, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and channel emulators
  • Maintain configuration control and calibration status across all assigned EGSE assets
  • Author and execute test procedures, interface control documents, and test readiness reviews
  • Track and drive closure on test anomalies, working across subsystem teams to identify root cause and verify corrective action
  • Support the scaling of test infrastructure as production rate increases — identifying gaps, proposing solutions, and executing on EGSE roadmap deliverables
  • Work hands-on with hardware on the production floor during satellite integration and test campaigns

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or related technical field
  • 8+ years of experience in EGSE design, development, and integration for aerospace or satellite systems
  • Demonstrated experience designing and integrating RF test systems, including signal generators, spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, channel emulators, and power meters
  • Hands-on experience with phased array antenna test and characterization including beam steering verification, gain measurement, EIRP, and radiation pattern testing
  • Working knowledge of RF system fundamentals including link budgets, noise figure, return loss, gain flatness, and spurious emissions
  • Experience with automated test software development using Python, LabVIEW, MATLAB, or equivalent
  • Proven ability to define EGSE requirements and interface control documents from system-level specifications
  • Experience with hardware and software configuration management processes for EGSE systems

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, RF Engineering, or related field
  • Experience with high-volume or production satellite EGSE operations and test flow optimization
  • Experience with active phased array antenna systems, including T/R module characterization, element-level calibration, and beamforming verification
  • Familiarity with satellite communication frequency bands (Ka, Ku, V, optical) and associated RF test methodologies
  • Experience with over-the-air (OTA) test chambers, near-field antenna ranges, and compact antenna test ranges (CATRs)
  • Familiarity with RF channel emulation and fading simulation for link performance validation
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams and coordinate across disciplines in a fast-paced development environment
  • Experience with ESD control, contamination control, and cleanroom operations for satellite hardware integration
  • Ability to work flexible hours during critical integration and test campaigns
  • Knowledge of relevant RF standards and test methodologies (ITU, ETSI, MIL-STD-461, IEEE 149)
  • Experience supporting satellite-level FMEA, hazard analysis, or safety reviews in an EGSE or I&T environment
  • Previous lead or management experience within an EGSE or systems integration organization
  • Experience with real-time test platforms and data acquisition systems (National Instruments PXI/PXIe, Keysight VXI, or equivalent)
