This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.

As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will serve as the integrator of the thermal and fluid systems of the MK1 Lunar Lander. In your role as MK1 Vehicle Thermal and Fluids Integrator on the Vehicle Systems Engineering team, you will be responsible for defining and managing the integrated thermal and fluid system requirements, interfaces, design parameters, and test scope across the full vehicle lifecycle from design through verification and validation. Your expertise and leadership will be critical to ensuring the thermal and fluid systems of the lander are properly defined, integrated, tested, and certified for mission success.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Own and maintain integrated vehicle-level thermal and fluid system requirements and lead their verification and validation
- Define and manage integrated thermal and fluid interface control documents (ICD) across vehicle subsystems
- Own and maintain the vehicle leak budget, ensuring all contributions are tracked, dispositioned, and within acceptable limits
- Serve as the vehicle level component temperature limits owner, ensuring all hardware operates within defined thermal margins across all mission phases and has been tested to the necessary levels
- Define and manage design parameters related to integrated thermal and fluid systems
- Define proof and leak test scope and success criteria for pressurized fluid systems across the vehicle
- Own or support vehicle test scope for integrated vehicle tests involving thermal and fluid systems, including integrated vehicle thermal vacuum testing, tanking tests, and proof and leak tests
- Define test objectives and success criteria in test matrices, traced to requirements, design parameters, budgets, and interfaces
- Review test procedures involving pressurized cryogenic and non-cryogenic fluid systems and support test execution
- Review and interpret test data to assess performance and health at both the system and component level, and to anchor and validate analytical models
- Support test and operation efforts by investigating root cause and corrective actions and dispositioning non-conformances and event reports related to thermal and fluid systems
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to define requirements, dependencies, and resource needs associated with delivering integrated thermal and fluid systems and executing associated testing
Minimum Qualifications:
- Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
- B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of systems engineering experience with a focus on thermal and fluid systems for spacecraft
- Strong understanding of integrated thermal and fluid spacecraft systems including active and passive thermal control systems
- Experience with thermal and fluid analysis and model anchoring and validation
- Strong knowledge of spacecraft fluid and thermal components including cryogenic tanks, accumulators, fluid lines, valves, regulators, fittings, and heaters
- Experience with interface definition and management across complex spacecraft systems
- Experience planning, reviewing, and supporting execution of integrated tests on spacecraft involving pressurized fluid systems
- Experience leading anomaly resolution and root cause investigations on flight hardware
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with lunar, deep space, or planetary missions
- Experience with cryogenic propellant systems and associated ground support equipment
- Experience with design and construction standards for space systems
- Experience with integrated hazard analysis and verification for spacecraft pressurized systems
- Experience with thermal vacuum testing and/or integrated tanking test execution
- Experience with leak budget development and management for spacecraft fluid systems
Base Pay Range for:
CO applicants is $110,938.00 - $155,312.85 WA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20Other site ranges may differ

- Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
