Job Description

Application close date:

Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of professionals, you will be responsible for planning, preparing, and documenting manufacturing processes, inspections, schedules, and tooling. You will share in the team’s impact on translating engineering intent and drawings into detailed manufacturing work instructions in support of preparing hardware for development, qualification, and flight. Through constant monitoring of the manufacturing process, you will identify where modifications to the work instructions (or other documents) are required to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build sequence and schedules. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of design, assembly, testing, and process improvement. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in avionics, electronics, or aerospace manufacturing environments demonstrating proven resourcefulness and execution
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prepare, and document manufacturing processes for avionics hardware (e.g., wire harness/cable assembly, electromechanical actuator assembly, avionics integration, sensor installation)
  • Experience coordinating build sequences and production schedules across multiple work centers and disciplines
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and specifications accurately
  • Ability to identify process improvements and drive changes to work instructions and supporting documentation that improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize production flow
  • Experience managing hardware configuration, serialization, and traceability throughout the build and test lifecycle
  • Strong understanding of avionics-related manufacturing processes including but not limited to: soldering, crimping, wire harness fabrication, conformal coating, potting, connector work, cable routing, and electro-mechanical integration
  • Familiarity with precision calibration tools and their application in manufacturing (torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, etc.)
  • Proficiency in digital tools including Windows and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong self-direction with the ability to prioritize and schedule work activity in support of team and program objectives
  • Willingness to review and implement Blue Origin processes, procedures, and specifications
  • Ability to work required shift and site, with flexibility for extended shifts/overtime as needed

Desired:

  • A.S. degree in electrical, electronics, mechanical, or manufacturing engineering technology—or equivalent hands-on experience; industry certification or trade school training in a related field
  • Willingness to work hands-on, both independently and as part of a team, throughout the development and production phases of the product lifecycle
  • Experience with work instruction documentation systems, BOM structures, and ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Windchill, or similar)
  • Familiarity with industry workmanship standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, IPC/WHMA-A-620, J-STD-001, NASA-STD-8739 series); IPC certifications a plus
  • Experience with space flight hardware assembly and planning
  • Experience working on aerospace payloads, fairings, capsules, or launch vehicle avionics
  • Exposure to a variety of manufacturing processes beyond avionics (e.g., machining, additive manufacturing, composite layup, adhesives, sealants, thermal blankets)
  • Experience in both development/prototype and rate production environments
  • 3D model experience and familiarity with CAD tools
  • Knowledge of precision assembly processes and handling large aerospace components
  • Familiarity with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and digital work instruction platforms
  • Experience supporting environmental and acceptance testing of avionics hardware (e.g., thermal cycling, vibration, EMI/EMC)
  • Experience planning for material handling equipment operations (forklifts, cranes, etc.) within production workflows
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification
  • Continuous improvement mindset and curiosity for optimizing processes and driving innovation
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills in varied teams to foster a positive work environment
  • Strong technical and leadership skills with keen attention to detail
